Publisher's summary

Her sister gone, her roommates soon to follow, Leora Mitchell must now face the fact that she, along with the others, are mail-order brides. For years, her life revolved around Brown’s Textile Mill, her sister Lottie, and their friends. Now, as mail-order brides, they’d be scattered across the country, ready to start a new life. The only problem was Leora had no idea what that life looked like, nor did she have any idea who she was without the familiar faces she loved so much.

Pastor Theron Drake needed a wife, and the crazy folks in his congregation whole-heartedly agreed. So much so, they thought they should have as much access to the new Mrs. Drake as he did! They volunteered her for everything they could think of and made her the director of the annual Christmas Play. Throw in the town bully/busybody who’d rather have her own choice of a Mrs. Drake, and you have a mail-order bride that doesn’t know if she’s coming or going.

Will Theron and Leora’s new marriage survive the onslaught of his over-zealous parishioners? Or will she crack under the pressure, turn tail, and run? Find out in this hilarious romp, how two people are forced to discover their true strengths and weaknesses.

Magical

I have just finished listening to this charming story and wish it had never ended!! Leora, Lottie's sister is finally on her way to her soon to be husband in California, Pastor Theron Drake. She thought he was so handsome but everything kind of went my in a blur and she was married! Of course, she soon got to know the town's bully, a lady her tried to make everyone cower to her.
Michael Rahhal is an amazing narrator with his array of voices that fit the characters perfectly. Again, just as in Lottie's story I feel a little in love with Theron. He was such a quite man but it seemed he knew just what to say to support his new wife.
This is a journey for Leora to find what she is capable of and the strength she needs. There was a lot of humor and some life lessons I think we all need to remember. Everyone carries something on their shoulders and we have to dig deep sometime to help them and ourselves understand.
This reminded me of the Home in Milford series and I think this could be one too with this town and the people.
SImple perfect and I mean that. I will listen to this again! I just have to find the rest of Leora and Lottie's friends!

delightful

I really have enjoyed this series, this is a wonderful addition to it. Leora doesn't know it but she is heading for problem with the town when she marries Pastor Theron. It is one thing after another, it goes from bad to worse. I wish I could be more like Leora I don't think I would have handled it as good as she did. There are some ups and downs, so very mean people and some really nice ones. gossip is a nasty thing and the poor girl is right in the middle of it. I thought there were some lovely characters, was a great plot and story line that I got lost in. I really didn't want to put it down. Mrs. Morgan is a great storyteller, very entertaining, with delightful scenes. She gives you delightful characters that warms your heart, even the bad aren't so bad once you get to know them.

I thought the narrator was great, love his character voices, you always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. There was no background noise, no volume change, no repeating of words. I really loved the emotion he brought to the story, I did chuckle a time or two as well as held my breath. His voices really fit the characters. It is a wonderful clear audio that I got lost in and didn't want to put down. I haven't listen to any of his work before but can't wait to listen to more.

Great Listen

This was a refreshing listen. I normally listen to books that are way more sexual and edgy.
Out of all in the mail order bride series, this was my favorite.
It was a subtle Christian listen, that game you a little, meaness, forgiveness, and love.

NICE

This is the first book in this series that I have read, but I liked it well enough to start at the beginning. This was a simple story. The narrator really did a good job with all of the voices. I was impressed.
