If you want to learn Italian you need this in your repertoire

Everyone learns slightly different, and there isn’t one sole way to learn a language properly. There are so many differing theories on how to learn a language, but ideally, you would do them all.

The way Paul Noble teaches is through repetition over time. Your brain needs to reinforce the connections it makes when learning something new, so this is what repetition over time does. Here is the scenario: You hear a new word, and you may remember it forever, or you may forget it. Its repeated a few times in the first few minutes and your brain makes that new connection. Maybe 20 minutes later in the audio book (or more depending on how you split your listening time) you hear the word again. Now, if you remembered it, great! It gets reinforced. If you don’t remember it right away, you hear it again and the familiarity of it lights up the pathway in your brain to where you are unlikely to forget it again.

This is how ALL brains work. Yes, you should supplement your learning with interaction with native speakers, visual learning, and practicing writing too. But this audiobook is what you need for a good chunk of verb conjugation, tenses, and overall sentence structure.

If you are serious about learning a language, Paul’s audiobooks are fantastic. And they don’t cost all that much either!

What an amazing audiobook

I absolutely love this audiobook. It's amazing how in just a couple chapters you can be making phrases without having to be memorizing a bunch of vocabulary first. He gradually introduces new words. I wish I had found this sooner. If you are looking to learn Italian, I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Not much grammar instructions

You won’t learn how to speak Italian by learning the grammar and conjugations, etc. it gives you a taste.

Loved it!

Paul’s untraditional method of teaching is wonderful! The clues he provides to remember important information is so unique and useful. It’s also great that he doesn’t expect you to cram everything into your mind the first time you hear it. So you actually enjoy going through his lesson knowing he will circle back to new topics again later on to refresh your memory. Totally loved it and learned a ton. Will be using the last chapter for practice as he suggested very often. It’s a bit of a speed-round of everything you learn in the book. Such a well thought out set of lessons.

A Solid Start for Learning Italian

Similar to some other language programs out there because the method seems to work. You start to understand the concepts enough that you can say what you want and respond to native speakers in your own words rather than repeating rote sentences.

Great Introduction & Process

Years ago, a company I worked for supplied a Berlitz language tutor for us to learn *some* Italian as we had a partner firm from Rome. I was enamored with the language and the people I met, and when I left the company promised myself to continue learning. Then twenty years went by. I tried several other language courses but found most of them were rote memorization rather than the conversational style of Berlitz. This course was a nice departure from that and seemed very natural to me, and the audible format worked quite well. This course will not provide you with everything you need to live in Rome, but it is an excellent foundation. This course can provide you with essential tools and confidence.

Far better than other beginning Italian courses

I have been trying to learn Italian and have tried several beginner courses. This is by far the best. The author gives many great tricks that relate English to Italian and brings the learner along fairly quickly. He also addresses multiple tenses, which is very helpful. I look forward to listening to his other books.
