it is too fast past for me to feel engaged. for absolute beginners no time to learn how to pronounce the words and repeat in time.

It is a small but good lesson to learn and to practice sometimes. It is for begginners.

Good for Vocabulary Practice

As a vocabulary supplement to other learning materials, I found this helpful. However, it's not a stand-alone product.

it wasn't THAT bad

I can't disagree with the rough reviews but as a useful little exercise tool to practice a bit, it is not that bad. One must remember that this is just one small piece of a much larger program. I doubt the other Units are much better but people seem to think a 1 hour audio program will magically teach you Italian. This was only a word builder. Yes, they said potere means power and literally translate "What is your name" but on the other hand, it is one of the few programs that actually uses the every day "tu" form as the default for "you" and that I found refreshing.

Learn Italian

This was good for hearing the words spoken in Italian properly. But not so much in teaching the words as just listening to the spoken sentences.
