Publisher's summary

Four set out, one is dead, another is barely holding it together. Still, in the face of tragedy, to save the modern world, Alexander Grant is more determined than ever to stop Elam Khai, Peter Kroll, and anyone else who stands in his way. Having lived over 1500 years, our teenage hero knows a bit about history. But as much as he’s trained, seen, and experienced, nothing has prepared him for what he’s about to face.

In this third installment in the Battle for Forever series, League of Auld, the stakes are higher, and the action more intense as Alexander, Phoebe, and Renika, along with their band of misfits, confront some of the deadliest warriors the world has ever known. This edge of your seat adventure follows Alexander and his companions as they journey through a dangerous landscape where it seems everyone is after them. To stop the sinister plot designed to protect the future for a select few, they form new allies, face old foes, and uncover a shocking truth.

Humor, action, and history collide in this pulse-pounding penultimate book in the BFF saga where Alexander will have to lose everything if he is to have any chance at all to win the Battle For Forever.

The wait is over

It definitely took me a while to get use to Ray Porter’s voice after Wil Wheaton narrated the first two books. Most of my questions were answered in this book. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I have new questions. Can’t wait for book 4.

I really enjoyed this book

There are moments where I laughed out loud, much to the dismay of ppl who couldn't see my earphones. This was such a good listen. I have already recommended the series to other people based on this book. I liked the 1st two. This one I loved.

Talented storyteller

A masterpiece of a story. And Ray Porter’s voice work is once again outstanding. Eagerly awaiting the next release.

Entertaining

A fun fast paced story. It took me a few minutes to get over the switch from Wil Wheaton as a reader but I quickly settled into the new reader who is very good as well.

good reader, wrong book for him

the reader did a good job, but I liked wil Wheaton's reading better. I hope book four is better than this one, I loved books 1+2, this one was good not great. it honestly maybe because the voice didn't match the characters anymore, maybe ya'll should rerecord with mr. Wheaton, that may help.

Just ok

This book was just OK. I do wish they would’ve waited and had Will Wheaton narrate. I tend to zone out with this narrator.

A worthy installment!

Let me start out by saying I don't normally leave reviews. I know, I should. I don't. Normally. But this series caught me by the heartstrings and wrapped itself in the thinky part of my brain from the first moment and hasn't let go since.

Battle For Forever is one of the series that has gotten me through the pandemic and I really do read/listen to it often. The characters are gripping. Some because you love them, some because they are evil in a way that has you cringing as you recognize pieces of yourself or of humanity. The action is non-stop. The plot is fresh but feels plausible. It is an enjoyable re-read as there is enough going on that you catch nuances you missed the first/second time. This is not a light series, there is so much to examine and think about. But you will also laugh out loud. A lot. This balance of humor and deep, emotional and moral substance impresses me and keeps me coming back.

Switching narrators part way through a series is always difficult; jarring. Ray does a good job with this though. I won't give him 5 stars, but it would be 4.5 if we could give half stars. I feel it took him a bit to get the pacing of Edward Savio's writing down. I am also not sold on a couple of his woman's voices. But these are not egregious issues and I did really enjoy his performance. He keeps his voices distinct, which is so helpful with the multiple characters Savio dumps into scenes.

I love this book. I love this series. I recommend it to anyone who will listen to me talk about it. Bring on book 4!!

Daniel is not longer the comic relief

Ray, I think your voice is fine, my only recommendation is that for the first two books, Daniel was presented as a comic relief - the Falstaff. It added interest to the book. You have him as a serious person. If you do another book in this series, I strongly recommend you give this a second thought. Ron
