Publisher's summary

Only a six gun stood between him and Boot Hill!

When the SOS came from his pardner, Holt Spainhower knew he had to hit leather for Main City, but he hated like hell to do it. Spainhower had used his fast gun to clean up plenty of other towns, and he was tired of all the killing. But there was something even more sinister about Main City. And when Spainhower met murder on the road to that frontier town, he began to realize just how violent a job lay before him. By the time he was there just a few hours, he'd been appointed marshal of what they called "claim-jumper town". Then the boys who ran its streets and he locked horns...and something had to give. For by then Spainhower knew his only ally was his low-slung pistol...and the law of the trigger.

In this quick-moving novel of a man so tough bullets couldn't stop him, you will meet:

Holt Spainhower: He had a soft heart but was tough enough to stop bullets.

Dorsey Evers: Dorsey wanted what was right, but he wasn't brutal enough to get it.

Tiny: A big man with a small brain, he was more dangerous than any wild animal.

Jude Kabo: Being shrewd and ruthless, Jude was more respectable than most.

Kitty: After giving too much to the man she loved, she was left with nothing.

Slade: "Kill fast and never say die" was his slogan.

I am the Law. Well, he is.

Here’s a book that has a plethora of characters that are memorable, halt being one of them. He’s just a guy that’s not wanting trouble, but when it comes, he’s not afraid to step up and show her who’s boss

I enjoyed the book and I’m coming to learn of these westerns aren’t always very long. I guess unlike Louis l’Amour people today just want something short and sweet to gnaw on.

Theo Holland does a wonderful job, voicing the narration and bringing the feel of the old west into your heart.

Great performance, satisfying Western

4 of 5 stars Law of the Trigger by Giles A. Lutz
Narrated by Theo Holland
Summary:
Holt Spainhower answers a friend’s call for help by going to Main City and attempting to bring law and order.

Additional Comments:
• It’s a frustrating book for 2 hours. Then, things get righted in the last few minutes.
• Spainhower is likable, perhaps a little too likable. That’s what makes it hard to listen to everything go very, very wrong for so long.
• The main bad guy is charismatic and slick. He’s got others to do his dirty work, so he can keep on smelling like roses.
• Spainhower also needs to keep innocent bull-headed people from getting themselves killed. That’s easier said than done.
Conclusion:
Short, satisfying western tale.
