Publisher's Summary

In the backcountry of Idaho, a tribe of men are hunting and killing with a dream of returning the world to an earlier time. A time when courage and prowess in the field determined a man's worth. A time when the strong took what they wanted, and the weak cowered in fear.

Mike Bryant has come to the wilderness to die. Tired of the trappings of modern life, his will to live has run out. But when he crosses paths with a group of warriors who challenge him, he suddenly finds purpose. Mike is no ordinary man. Frozen and given up for dead, an inner core of rage ignites a fury few have seen and lived.

Deep in the White Cloud mountains, a demon is awakening. The last son of the War God was forged in the storm of blood and fire. And now he's angry.

Excellent book

This is the best action book I’ve come across in a long time. Clays no bullshit writing style along with his deep knowledge of tactics and weapons made this an excellent listen from beginning to end. I listened to the entire thing on one car ride and can’t wait for his next book

Extremely Entertaining

I bought this book for a brutal day of travel. This book was so engaging and funny that it made a couple flights and a 6 hour layover fly by. Fun, disturbing, exciting and hilarious. I burst into laughter on more than one occasion.

Excellent read

I really enjoyed this book. It was hard to stop listening once I started. Clay's professional perspective on guns, violence and the military are genuine and loaded with interesting details. I would recommend this read to just about anyone.

Awesome story!

You can’t go wrong choosing this one. It is an excellent read and fantastic story. Not much over the top and something you won’t soon forget. I don’t think many men have a problem with taking out the trash when they clearly deserve it. Some of the methods aren’t really my cup of tea. But when you want to send a message, there is no better way to get the attention of scum sucking low life pieces of trash like these.
The god of war has been unleashed and taken vengeance on those who dare claim to be righteous warriors. A shame to waste good hardware just to avoid the world of misunderstood intentions.
Great story!

Wait for it...

The pacing in this shorter story isn’t bad. The opening scene had me furrowing my brow and tilting my head. I almost declined going any further after the first chapter but I was in the truck and didn’t want to pull over to find something new.

The character development is slow. Particularly for the antagonist. But it’s good. Real good. Give this thing several chapters before making up your mind.

If you love to”discover” a truly great author this book is for you.

Clay Martin is one of the rough men who allow us to sleep safely in or beds at night. He is the real deal and man can he write. I’ll be watching closely for his next book. He is now on my favorite authors list.

Gotta love Marines

As a retired Air Force intel analyst, I am extremely thankful for the highly trained and deadly Marines we have on our side and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to complete the mission. I have worked with several, but very few of them actual operators. We all have our jokes about the other branches, but there is no one I would rather work with than a crusty Marine. This book is the perfect example of why. This book is a Marine...not a lot of bs, just a lot of knowledge and skill and a willingness to do what needs to be done. Looking forward to more violence from Clay.

One mean dude!

Mike Bryant was tired. After his many years in service to our country, multiple tours in the Middle East, Marines, Special Forces, Green Berets, and hours upon hours in a sniper hide waiting for the perfect shot. His country abandoned him; handing over his walking papers with a hearty so long. Retreating to the Idaho wilderness intending to eat a 10mm, unaware that a different ending was in store for him. A vile group of cannibalistic men claimed this area for their hunting grounds; hunting and butchering human captives. Their corrupted minds believing the world would return to barbarism and with it the ability to take whatever they wanted without consequence. Confident, they saw Mike as their next victim. They could not have imagined how wrong they were.

Amazing

I thought the story was starting slow but the plot, character and action took off not long after the first chapter and only kept getting better. This could easily become a hit movie. The technical info reminds me of Tom Clancy's gift for detail that keeps the smart reader going.

Surprisingly good

I was expecting poorly read pulp, I was fortunately mistaken. The story was very well devised and played out logically. The technical details were accurate without the story getting lost in them.

The narrator did a good job, and didn't struggle with military jargon.
