Los Angeles is a city of sunlight, celebrity, and possibility. The L.A. often experienced by Homicide Lt. Detective Milo Sturgis and psychologist Alex Delaware, is a city of the dead. Early one morning, the two of them find themselves in a neighborhood of pretty houses, pretty cars, and pretty people. The scene they encounter is anything but. A naked young man lies dead in the street, the apparent victim of a collision with a moving van hurtling through suburbia in the darkness. But any thoughts of accidental death vanish when a blood trail leads to a nearby home.

Story
When a young woman is found brutally murdered in her own apartment with an intricate pattern of lines carved into her face, Copenhagen police detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner are assigned to the case. Soon, they establish a link between the victim, Julie Stender, and her landlady, Esther de Laurenti, who’s a bit too fond of drink and the host of raucous dinner parties with her artist friends. Esther also turns out to be a budding novelist - and when Julie turns up as a murder victim in the unfinished mystery she’s writing, the link between fiction and real life grows.

Story
Stormy Weather centers on the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. The devastation of the storm has attracted crowds of voyeurs and impostors to Florida. Drawn by the chance to prey on Andrew's victims, misfits like the murderous ex-con Snapper and the dangerously seductive Edie find easy targets for their insurance scams. They're not prepared, though, when they meet their opposition, led by a hoary ex-governor who smokes toads.
Both hilariously funny and deadly accurate, Carl Hiaasen's novel will take you into a Florida that is far from the frilly palms and pink flamingos of its post cards.

Game warden John Marlin joins forces with the sheriff's department once again to root through the clues and discover the truth.

Like rabid rabbits
Now Red gets his turn at a woman friend with benefits and Billy Don is single and ready to mingle. I love the mysteries, but many of these characters act like frat boys. They seem to think sex is interchangeable with any thing or commodity. Mandy and Tino thoroughly ticked me off. Between all their lies and loose loose to non-existent morales. I'm gaging. Wth?? And the final lie, that biotch admitted to!!! Sadly, the man is thinking without his brain. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job.

A great book to listen to between more serious tomes. The Blanco County series is kind of a west Texas version of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. An easy, quick listen that is light but satisfying.

Murder is no laughing matter
This is book eleven in the Blanco county series and it is still as good as the first. This is because I like the characters and I enjoy listening to the trouble they get into especially Red O'Brien and Billy Don Craddock, who should be have been arrested long ago, even so you can't help but like them. The mystery was interesting and contained plenty of suspects to keep you guessing. The only thing I didn't like was the comedian, he wasn't funny just insulting and rude but then again maybe it is an American thing and I just didn't get the jokes. Other than that it was fun.
A big Hunter goes missing after an argument with his girlfriend. The only clue found is a puddle of blood on the side of the road. Was it an accident or something a bit more premeditated? Game warden John Marlin is once again called in to help investigate. The man had, had a number of run ins with people in the last couple of days, including trying to sue Red O'Brien for a back injury while building the poachers free house. This causes Red and Billy Don to run there own investigation because they can't trust the cops when they say he isn't really a suspect. Who will get to the bottom of the disappearance? And will they find him alive or dead? With a famous face in the county who isn't returning there calls the investigation may prove to be Marlins most difficult case yet.
He narrator was okay but he does have quite a deep gruff voice which tends to make some of the characters sound the same.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
