Publisher's summary

A suspicious accident, a prized asteroid, and a game of politics to decide who rules the galaxy. Someone’s making a power play, but who?

Captain Greg Daniels of the DSM Boone is a handful of asteroids away from retiring when his plans are threatened by an explosion on his ship. With the risk of another more lethal attack, Greg must locate the source of the explosion, or he’ll lose more than the priceless rock he just obtained - he’ll lose his life.

On the lunar community, Final Frontier Mining Director David Rivera has his sights set on becoming prime minister of the ISC. His hopes rest on ace miner Daniels, bringing in the most profitable asteroid in the company's history to keep himself in the spotlight. But, when he discovers a conspiracy to destroy his company and put a stop to his political aspirations, David must hunt down his mysterious hacker while trying to save Greg, DSM Boone, and the asteroid it has secured.

One man fights for survival in deep space, another on the moon, but is there someone else pulling the strings of both? Only if they can work together, will they find the answers they need to survive.

This was a Good Audible Book 1

A well written Story of space Mining operations and the different Counties Goverment officials that control it. With a accidents getting a mining asteroide lassoed to take back you now have the start of a mystery to find out Who, and why. Narrator does a good job with the entire storyline.

Space mining... with shady political intrigue

Received as a review copy from Story Origin; also received an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Brilliantly narrated by Kyle Snyder, bringing to life this intense adventure with great snarky humor. What makes this story a dam fine is the two men at the center of the narrative. They were both so complicated and fallible you believe in their convictions as they fight against those that want them dead. The political endeavors were so slick and scary that I hoped those undermining everyone hopefully would be stopped. Highly recommended.

A good start to a series, if not a bit short

I liked the start of this series, most of the main characters are believable and interesting. The intrigue and mystery kept you guessing and wondering. Can't tell if the Female characters are not well written overall or if it's the voice actor, they come off as very whiny, confused and desperate. Sandra is esp unbearable... After going through all 4 books, I feel like these should have been made into a 2 book series, the stopping points, including the one for book 1 seem a bit unfulfilling.

Pros:
Some solid and interesting science fiction concepts
Well rounded plot\story that makes you want to listen to book 2
Fun and Funny at times without being too campy

Cons:
I know this sounds a bit weird.. but a bit too Canadian, everyone hugs each other, says sorry, and great job, and it all feels a bit like an office training video on how to talk to your co-workers.

mining

I loved the narration of Kyle Snyder,he bringing to life this intense adventure, action and the humour. I shall be looking out for more books with his narration.

DSM Boone is an asteroid-capture vessel tasked to lasso and bring in a asteroid which is over a hundred times its weight. The Captain of Boone Greg is aware of the dangers of these contract missions, but he’s got a crew that he trusts to get the job done.
The FFM, the space mining company , which owns DSM Boone, is being framed of using insider information illicitly passed . Someone has manipulated the situation to make it a believable. David needs to find the mole in his organization.

Action, adventure and humour.

Great story

The story was good. Narration was very good. For book one it's a good start. I wasn't bored at all with the story. It's still worth buying

A wonderful sci-fi story from Mike Coville!

Mike Coville does a wonderful job setting up this story and the plot moves on at a good pace. Being science fiction it makes you think about the future and of course lots of cool things that could be. Mike always writes believable characters that you can relate to on some level. I look forward to book 2; Vultures! Audio Version: This was my first time listening to Kyle Snyder narrate and he does a great job with the individual characters and the story.

Great space mining story with reality based tech

I received this book for free for an honest review.

I liked that the premise about space mining and tech is founded on current technology projections, and detective element instead of some stretched romantic relationship was refreshing.

for me, the disconnect I couldnt get past was the impossible timelines for using the tech to find the necessary clues.

overall I recommend as an entry into a new series
