Publisher's Summary

In 1522, the very night they were wed, Royce Morgan and his new bride, Beatrice Godwin, were murdered on their way home to Lacybourne Manor. After the cruel deed was done, a local witch came across their bodies, witnessing firsthand the tragedy of star-crossed lovers. Vowing that Royce and Beatrice would someday uncross those stars, using magic mixed with murder as well as true love, she linked their spirits together with hers (because someone had to protect them) forever...or until their reincarnated souls find happily ever after.

Now arrogant, forbidding Colin Morgan lives at Lacybourne, knowing, from lore (as well as the portraits of Royce and Beatrice that hang in Lacybourne's hall and the small fact that he looks exactly like Royce Morgan), that he is the reincarnated soul of his ancestor. One stormy night, flighty, free-spirited, scarily kind-hearted Sibyl Godwin comes to Lacybourne and it doesn't escape Colin's notice that Sibyl is the spitting image of Beatrice. However murder, magic, a warrior's heart beating in a modern man's chest, a woman bent on doing good deeds even if they get her into loads of trouble, a good witch whose family has vowed throughout the centuries to protect true love, distrust, and revenge make a volatile cocktail.

This means the path to happily ever after is paved with tranquilizer darts, pensioners on a rampage, Sibyl's bad morning moods, heartbreaking misunderstandings, and all kinds of magic, good and bad.

Least Favorite Male Character

I am a big KA fan and usually love her work, but I can not count how many time I wanted to give up on this on. The main male character is horrible; bossy, overbearing and basically just a jerk. I never understood how the female lead could be in love with someone she was afraid of and who controlled her that way. I wanted to like this....but it was just not good.

Great love story

Her books flow with love, excitement, and plenty of drama. The narration is superb and I never want the book to end.

Lacybourne Manor Stars

This one was a little more what I was expecting with this series. Reincarnation is the key to this romance. It was actually really a sweet one.

Colin is a bit of an alpha male kind of dude, and for that I liked him and I didn't. He was almost on the too much side but he redeems himself bigggg time.

Sibyl is a character I had to grow to like, in some spots and sometimes I would say to myself how could you not like her all the time! Because she was sweet and kind and wasn't a pushover (most) of the time. But there were sometimes when I wanted to shake her.

Together Colin and Sibyl make sense and for that, I can forgive all the other second guessing. It was sweet to hear them come to terms with not only what was happening but them falling in love with each other. A great love story.

Not sure of the narration in all 3 books was why I wasn't a fan of the males because she made them sound almost, He-man. Mine. You do this… You Mine.
Her voice just had that possessive quality with each of the male voices. It worked for some part but again for others I just wanted regular Colin to come out. If that makes any sense yay if not sorry!

Good

Reincarnation and true love, KA style. And it was done awesomely and with all the warm squishy moments you've got to love in a KA book. Including the jerkish alpha male, even if he's English. Actually, while I love this book, I actually am not a huge Colin fan. As for the narration, it was great with the accents and old people voices, but not great for the male voices.

Loved it

From start to finish a great book. Kristen writes great characters. I haven't read a similar plot. This is my 14th year as an audible listener. This is part my best listen list. Thanks to Kristen and Abby.

Horrible Hero

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really wish I had not bought this book.

What could Kristen Ashley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This book is focused on a hero that is out and out abusive to the heroine, but then she sees his better side and falls in love? Nope. The book made me angry, I was ready to give up on Kristen Ashley all together. I do not think promoting putting up with abuse to hopefully find the prince is something women should be doing to other women.

Which scene was your favorite?

I did like the heroine but don't think the fiery person she wrote would really put up with that type of treatment.

Do you think Lacybourne Manor needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

NO!

love Kristen Ashley

Love everything she writes. But in this series, the narrator does a horrible job in the males voice. It's awful and I hated it when they spoke.

One of her best

This is a captivating story with excellent character development and building suspense. It is a little confusing at times keeping up with the movement between times but that is minimum. The main characters are well depicted in the narration. There is just enough humor to relieve some of the building tension. The prevalence of LOVE between the hero and heroine is well portrayed and performed as is the LOVE between the other characters including the animals. I thoroughly enjoyed the book including the pacing even though it is a long bool, Highly recommend. I also appreciate the adequate depiction of the love making WITHOUT the vivid descriptions that are sometimes in books.. erotica....

Good mix of romance and paranormal

I have already read this book on Kindle, and the Audio version does not disappoint. The narration is not perfect and the various accents are a bit weird but this is fairly easy to ignore in a story that moves along at a decent pace and has a good mixture of mystery, paranormal and romance to keep me happy. This book does have some minor plot issues, and the whole “reincarnated lovers” theme does take a bit of suspense out of the romance element, so this is probably not one of Kristen Ashley’s best. However each day I looked forward to tuning in and listening to more, so I am not about to deduct any stars for this really enjoyable read
