Publisher's summary

Kyron swore he wouldn’t work with dogs anymore, but, when Badger asks him to go home to Aspen and to track a missing war dog who is missing her left leg—as he is—Kyron can’t refuse. Even if it means seeing his brother and his wife again. Not that he had anything against them. Kyron just couldn’t deal with his parents. Finding the dog seems like the easiest part of returning to Aspen, until Kyron realizes a rescue run by a fascinating woman is the one that’s spotted the missing dog…only the dog isn’t alone.

Miranda spends every waking moment working to keep her animals safe. Two jobs keep them in food and shelter, but not much more. Considering her miserable neighbor is always making complaints about her, she has considered moving, but it is too expensive to make that happen. She has seen a three-legged canine hanging around the back perimeter of her property and had been feeding it, quietly knowing it resembled the dog the neighbor had brought home, until it ran away.

She had no intention of letting her neighbor or anyone else know about the dog, hoping to coax it onto her property, where she could look after it properly. However, then Kyron showed up, searching for the animal, and things got really ugly....

Ever exciting!

This series of K-9 war dogs is very good. I’d like to see the dogs more involved with the men that find them. They could be more central in the books. However, since I’ve read every one so far, I will say they are very informative, showing great care for the dogs by the humans that find and save them, and the romance in each case is enjoyed. I love these dogs! Looking forward to the next one. Brian Meslar is an excellent narrator!!

Kyron and Miranda

Kyron is the fifteenth book in The K9 Files series by Dale Mayer. Kyron has gone home to Aspen in the hopes of finding a missing War Dog. Kyron spends time with his brother and sister-in-law but the relationship with his family is strained at the best of times. While looking for the War Dog Kyron meets Miranda who runs a small rescue on her own. Miranda tells Kyron she has been putting food out for a dog that appears to be afraid of coming to close so Kyron goes looking. Miranda has a crazy neighbor who wants her and her animals gone. He will go to any length to get rid of them. When he shots at the War Dog and hits her companion instead Kyron steps in and gets the injured dog to a veterinarian Miranda works for. When Miranda's crazy neighbor steps up his attacks on Miranda and Kyron the police just brush if off as a neighborly dispute. Will Kyron be able to keep Miranda, the War Dog and her companion as well as Miranda's animals safe from her neighbor? Drastic steps need to take place to make that a reality. I loved this book, the characters are amazing and the story is original.
