Publisher's Summary

When Cordell Carmel catches his longtime girlfriend with another man, the act he witnesses seems to dissolve all the boundaries he knows. He wants revenge but also something more. Killing Johnny Fry is the story of Cordell's dark, funny, soulful, and outrageously explicit sexual odyssey in search of a new way of life. It marks new territory for the best-selling author of Devil in a Blue Dress and countless other books; it will surprise, provoke, inspire, and make you blush. Above all it is about a man questioning the rules we take for granted - and the powerful and sometimes disturbing connections that occur between people when these rules are removed.

Long way from Easy Rawlins

I've been a Mosley fan for years. This was the rawest, most explicit piece I've ever listened too. I couldn't stop. Started hot and continued all the way through. I didn't listen to 50 shades of grey, but I can't imagine it was more captivating then this. Can't listen to this in the car ... headsets a must.

Really Dark and Raw!

I struggled with deciding whether to keep listening or not . The story was really deep and dark and sort of sad. I was really saddened by all the broken family dynamics that led to some outrageously dark and complicated situations. the lead character starts off with a seemingly uncomplicated life until he encounters a minor stumbling block that derails his forward motion. He begins to realize that he hasn't been moving forward but in a continuous circle going nowhere. His whole life seems to be in a downward spiral. his life is further complicated by what appears to be an endless cycle of women in need. I stayed with a book for two reasons 1 because I really wanted to know if Johnny Fri would get killed and how and number 2 because I really wanted to know if the lead character would find a way out of his unresolved issues with his girlfriend. would he finally tell her the things that bothered him. I don't know if I was completely satisfied with the ending of this book only to say I was glad to get to the end. I still feel like there should have been more of a resolution for the lead character but I guess that could be another chapter for another book.

Unexpected

Everything "50 Shades" isn't! Well written, thoughtful, honest, and erotic. Walter Mosley is more that a great mystery writer; he's a great novelist.

Pornography with a Plot

This book shocked me. I am accustomed to Mosley's work and have an affinity to the Easy Rawlins series. This book however was explicitly pornographic with an interesting plot.

Porn

This book, while called a Sexistential Novel, is pure pornography. Even in that light it is unreasonably exaggerated.

Fantastic read, not your average Moseley

I loved this story it is very sexually graphic at times but the plot is strong and there is a lot of dept to the characters. Lots of twist and turns and few "WHAT!!!" moments. I would discribe it as an E ticket ride at Disneyland.
