Publisher's Summary

When the naive David Balfour sets out on his quest for a long-lost relative, a terrifying chain of events is set in motion. He is plunged into a world of infamy and violence from which there seems no escape - until, that is, he meets the enigmatic and valiant Highlander, Alan Breck....

Kidnapped is a captivating novel set around Scottish events of the 18th century, most notably the Appin murder, the case of a highlander who was wrongly implicated in the shooting of a government official.

great story

I thoroughly enjoyed the tale and loved the way it was presented. The characters seemed to come to life and the language was fascinating.

Kidnapped

I loved this book! I love R.L Stevenson's books. He writes fantastic adventures. Treasure Island was such a gem that I craved more of his high adventure, swashbuckling tales. The story is excellent. The characters are so well done. You feel the friendship between David and Alen by the end. Also the narration of he book and the narrator himself is awesome. He brings the story alive in setting that I wasn't used to (Scottish Highlands) and does the voices so well.

Fraud

I did NOT order this and will not pay for it. I am very disappointed in Amazon. They have provided no way to reverse this order or to contact them about it. Some how they managed to slipped it to me without my approval. Shame on you. In the future I will not longer order off of the dailey promotional book list. I ordered the free copy of this book (which I got) and was billed $8.01 for the audio version as well. Paul T

Fantastic

Excellent performance, superb story. I don’t need fifteen words for this review. Three more required.

An old favourite brought to new life.

David Rintoul’s performance, excess’s usual, gives this classic adventure new life. (The contrast with its Audio sequel, Catriona, “read” by a bored and boring Frederick Davidson could not be starker!)

A splendid yarn

Kidnapped remains a great classic tale of danger and pursuit in the Scottish Highlands. David Rintoul's rendition is excellent. His general narration is clear and we'll paced. He deals very professionally with the whole gamut of Scottish dialects and social classes.

A classic!

Stevenson's tale of Jacobite adventures stands the test of time, and is enlivened by Rintoul's narration.

Excellent and bitter sweet

The Book has a right to be
held a classic. It leaves one with ponderings about his memories and about friends and times long past
