One of My Favorite Authors

Whether you have children or not is irrelevant because the situations that she writes about are just funny. You will either identify with them as a child or as the parent or as both. I found Erma Bombeck back when I was in middle school. I remember laughing so hard at the situational moments she had found humor in. I was hooked. Bil Keane did the illustrations and those were funny too. I have read and reread her books so many times that I have lost count.

Oldie but Goodie

Erma Bombeck is even now regarded as a premier writer of comedy. As a parent with grown children of her own, I remember all the times I said this phrase under my breath. Now it's coming true.

Each of my children has at least one child that replicates almost exactly the antics they perpetrated when they were young. From permanent markers on the wall to small trucks down the toilet - or My Little Ponies in the case of the girls - my expectations have come true.

For older parents, this is nostalgia, for younger ones, it's a prediction. A really funny 'read' in any case. Barbara Rosenblatt does an inimitable performance as narrator.

Nobody writes funnier than Erma Bombeck

I have read and reread her books several times and just like I love Lucy, she makes me laugh every time. I wish she had written more books.
