Publisher's summary

Second chances only happen in the movies, right?

Following in his starlet grandmother's footsteps, Micah West left for the bright lights of Hollywood right after high school. He's spent the last five years building a name for himself as a young and rising star and his career is definitely going places. When his grandmother passes away, Micah finally comes home again and he’s terrified. It’s the first time he’s set foot in Longwood since he wooed and won and dumped his high school sweetheart. And now he has to face his biggest critic - the man he still loves.

Lewellyn King's life fell apart the night Mike called him from L.A. to break off their engagement and it’s never quite recovered. The whole town is convinced he hates Micah, but Lew knows the truth - he never stopped loving the alpha he'd been getting ready to marry. When he meets Mike again at the funeral, old hopes and hurts flare back up, but neither man can deny the feelings that still run strong between them.

Mike wants to make it right. Lew wants the man he was promised. But real life can't be just like the movies. Can it?

An novel set in the Oceanport omegaverse.

Slowburn Romance

Just Like the Movies is a standalone romance that set within the Oceanport Omegaverse. No knowledge of that series is needed to enjoy this book, but I highly recommend reading them all to fully enjoy this universe.

This is a second chance romance between the alpha who went to Hollywood to pursue his career while leaving his omega behind. However, although Lewellyn was left behind in Oceanport, he never forgot Micah. When they reconnect, both men will have to rebuild their trust with each other before they can move on to a deeper relationship. I thought this was a really sweet slowburn romance.

Sweet Second Chance Romance

I've read the book and liked it. The audiobook, I loved it. Lew is a great character. Love his fiery temper and forgiving nature. Micah, I want to smack him around a bit in the first part but he really grew on me. I wouldn't have believed the second chance he was given here by Lew except Lew clearly has a big heart and Micah can actually learn from his mistakes!

Wonderful writing as usual from AKB (this story could have gone pear shaped in less capable hands) and the narration by John Solo is as usual top notch. I only took 1 start out of story because I wouldn't have forgiven Micah in the first place like Lew! Nothing against the story per se. :D

John's narration draws you in and really made you focus and fall in love with the characters. The voices of each character is distinct and definitely a good match to their personalities. Just loved it!

Summary: Sweet romance with great narration that will entertain you for seven hours! And re-listenable again and gain. Highly recommended.

Captivating!

Lou and Mike were high school sweethearts. After high school, Mike went to Hollywood. With all the pressure, he broke up with Lou. Four years later, Mike's Grandma passed away and he returns home. The author had me crying and laughing at the same time and John Solo does an absolutely wonderful job with the emotion of the characters and the presentation of the story. Thanks for this captivating audiobook!

I really liked this book

Quite enjoyable: plot was interesting; main characters were also very interesting and sympathetic. I liked the narrator’s use of accents to give a fuller sense of the story. I hadn’t read any of this author’s other books, but certainly try to keep track of her work.

A second chance mpreg story

This is a sweet, beautiful, and a little messy, story of young love and second chances. When Micah returns home, after moving to L.A. to become an actor, for his grandmother's funeral he is reunited with the man he left behind, Lew. The man he still loves. I love Lew and Mike's back and forth as they rediscover their relationship, their love for each other, and ultimately get their happily ever after.
Narrator John Solo does a wonderful job in bringing these characters to life.

Even better than in the movies!!

As a huge fan of audiobooks and of any Ann-Katrin Byrde books, I was so happy when I received the opportunity to “re read” this amazing book. Of course, this second chance, love story between Micah and Lewellyn is wonderfully written and the great way the author manages the plot already allowed you to feel all the sweetness and cuteness in their relationship in between the few angst situations happening. However, also hearing it in the fantastic acting voice of John Solo totally made my day. Simply Wow!

Second chance to get it right

This is one of And-Katrin's books that I didn't read first as I didn't think it would interest me. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't really surprised by the reason Mike and Lew broke up, especially with the pressure of Hollywood. I'm glad Mike got a second chance to do it right and give Lew the opportunity to show that he can be as supportive as necessary. It was sad that it took a family loss to bring Mike home but I'm sure his grandma would have been happy about the overall results. I may wait for the audio of the second book instead of reading it, mainly because I really enjoy having John as a narrator and I may as well do the whole series in the same way.

second chances

I enjoyed this heartbreaking second chance book. It tore me up then put me back together again. Micah and Lew were meant to be,but only realized this after splitting up!! I empathized with Lew and his heartbreak, but happily Micah saw the error of his ways and came back to make it all better. I liked that Lew made him work for his love again. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

wishing for a little more conflict

liked everything about this story but could have had a little more conflict to round out all the sweetness of this story. but was still a great story. and loved the way John brings all the characters to life.

Wonderful Performance by John Solo

Super sweet second chance romance. Ann-Katrin Byrde ties in movies and Hollywood to the plot, and it's clever and well done.

What's really special about Just Like in the Movies is John Solo's narration in the audio version. Taking advantage of the humor, as well as the emotion, Mr. Solo delivers an excellent performance.

Good low angst story; great audio performance.

I love second chance stories and Just Like in the Movies is a good one. It's the first book I've read by Ann-Katrin Byrde but I've listened to several books performed by John Solo. After listening to my first audiobook he narrated he quickly became one of my top five favorite performers.

Just Like in the Movies is an Alpha/Omega story with both female and male alphas and omegas and, of course, Mpreg. 😊 While omegas are looked at as subservient to alphas, Lew doesn't tolerate that. He has a job and can support himself; he doesn't need an alpha to take care of him. Mike knows he made a huge mistake when he dumped Lew in the most callous of ways several years ago but he has never forgotten him and is ready to make amends. Lew certainly doesn't make it easy for him.

This is a sweet story without a lot of angst. In fact, after one conflict was resolved I kind of expected another one to happen but it didn't and I was fine with that. I will definitely be reading more books from Ann-Katrin Byrde.

I won a copy of this audiobook from the author during a Facebook party but no review was required or requested.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B
