With little help from the police department, Luke and Elise form an unlikely alliance that puts them face-to-face with a violent man-eating shark, and its terrifying reason for existing.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Thoroughly enjoyable listen!
OK, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this!! I mean zombie dinosaurs!!! How can that not be fun ;) Lol. No really, I did end up enjoying this because I went into it with no expectations and with the idea that this is like those b list horror movies that my parents used to watch! I knew it wouldn't be believable, I knew after reading some of the negative reviews not to expect much, but despite my apprehensions of it being a flop, I really enjoyed it. It grabbed my attention from the very first page and I was hooked the whole way through.
I'm not going to summarize this because I really think it's better not knowing, all I'm going to say is there are zombie freaking dinosaurs in it!!!!! Oh and we have regular old zombies too, but the main attraction is zombie dinosaurs!!!!
The plot, despite being way out there, is fast paced and entertaining. I had a hard time taking out my headphones because I wanted to see what would happen next. At times I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see would the humans make it!!!This would make for a very entertaining movie ;)
The characters were all well written and developed. There wasn't one I disliked and the main character Alex really grew throughout the story. I was rooting for him and Veronica the whole way through.
In all this was an entertaining and quite addictive read! I think if you go into it expecting nothing then you will enjoy it. I am eagerly awaiting book 2 and really hope it comes to audio soon!!!
Andrew Tell was fantastic. He had a range of accents and gave each character their own voice. I had no problem following who was talking and he kept my attention throughout.

Just have fun with it
Would you try another book from Rick Chesler and David Sakmyster and/or Andrew Tell?
I like the narrator and have listened to many of his books
Any additional comments?
I had just finished a long and involving clone love story and wanted a fun book to listen to that wouldn't involve too much thought or emotional involvement. This fit the bill, don't concern yourself with the science, don't fret about the characters, just listen and have fun with it.

Dinosaurs, Zombies, and Zombie Dinosaurs?
A research team looking for microbial organisms in Antarctica stumbles across a discovery 65 million years in the making. The find three perfectly preserved dinosaur corpses. The problem — after the T-Rex thaws out they find that it is missing its heart and one of its lungs. The even bigger problem — it still wakes up and has an insatiable hunger.
Jurassic Dead was narrated by Andrew Tell who does just a perfect job. Tell’s voice adds the right amount of drama to some scenes and action to the others. His pacing and overall delivery make this an audiobook that you don’t want to miss. The scientifically heavy parts were made to sound easy with Tell’s narration.
Jurassic Park was one of my all time favorite books when I was growing up, and it’s still in my top 10 today. This book has been on my wish-list for a while, and I was excited to dig into it to see what Sakmyster and Chesler had in store for me. Jurassic Dead has a nice mixture of old and new and even calls reference to Jurassic Park a few times in it.
There were certain parts of the book that seemed to be a little far-fetched, but then again we’re talking about zombie dinosaurs. So, if I’m going to be upset about far-fetchery (yes, I made up a word) then I should probably move on to another book. I guess that the hybrid/zombie aspect of it just caught me off guard. The reader is quickly introduced to these zombified beasts, but they aren’t explained until later.
The main characters were incredibly well thought out and explained. I always like when you feel like you know a character enough to actually bond with them. That is definitely the case in Jurassic Dead. The characters really make you feel. When they feel scared your heart races, and when they feel hopeless, the reader may need a moment.
Overall, Jurassic Dead was a good book made better by narration. I can’t tell you enough that a well-narrated book can elevate a book to new levels. This was truly a performance by Tell and the listener will not be disappointed.
If you were a fan of Jurassic Park (the movies or the books) with a new scientific twist — this book is for you. Yes, there’s a lot of blood and gore — but what do you expect? They’re zombie dinosaurs.

A Motley Crew
Jurassic Dead is a fun, action packed, easy listen, with I think a good dose of humor. I'm not sure if the humor was that intentional, but I did find myself physically smiling at the various situations and results this motley lot of characters got themselves into. Such as Alex's perpetual experiences with aircraft, the absolute worst case of a doctor impersonation possible, and especially the expected outcome of a very short helicopter ride. The story was as other reviewers have mentioned a popcorn read, and I do like that about it. It was a straightforward linear narrative, making it very easy to follow in audio format (some complex stories can get a bit tough in audio format). It'd make a good direct to video or SyFy channel type movie I think. I like the nod (I think) to Jurassic Park with the name of the ship (at least I think that was the intent!). I do love a good dino audiobook (not many about) and this book was actually on my wish list. So I was very happy when I had the opportunity to get this as a review copy. Brilliant luck!
I loved the narration, and found the diction clear, the voices distinguishable, and I never found myself having to "rewind".
In all a good, fun, quick read.

Popcorn book
You like popcorn? Me 2! This is a popcorn book. Don't take it serious! With a name like Jurassic Dead how could you? i mean it is about Dinosaurs! I liked it a lot, but no book that is this popcorn will get full score! I am sorry! When you don't take it serious it is hard to give full score!
Andrew Tell reads this like it should be read, like it is a popcorn book! 7 hrs and 14 mins of fun popcorn. I think he delivers in this book like a pro! He is defensive the best thing about this book.

Dinosaurs and debacle.
It was bloody and boring. I thought any potential of storyline was lost in all the blood.
or what do you do with a 69 million old dinosaur tied down on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

This book is pretty awful. It's just a generic dinosaur story combined with a cliché zombie story. The male lead, our protagonist, is kinda a useless spoiled price with daddy issues. He also straight up a terrorist. Our female lead is a cool secret agent, but does a horrible job at staying undercover. Do strong female characters come across as progressive when the author can't even mention the character without sexualizing them? The answer is no. I've seen the villains before because they are all one dimensional recycled, overused clichés of clichés. It took me way too long to finish this. I kept putting it off. No interest in the sequels. Clichés are fine but only if done well. Narrator was fine, but the book just sucked.
