Publisher's summary

Winnie was always a hopeful child, full of imagination and wild dreams. When she falls pregnant at a young age, she unexpectedly leaves town with the father of the child, Billy. After a long journey across the country, Winnie finds herself alone and with child in a strange new land. After a while she meets Colt, the handsome fisherman who owns the docks, and he quickly takes on the role of surrogate father to baby Sarah. Almost six years later, Colt and Sarah find themselves taking the long journey back to Winnie’s hometown. They see strange and wonderful things as they cross the country to find Sarah’s grandmother.

Just the right mix of good and bad people!

Journeys by Robyn Hardling is a compelling tale of two life journeys. The first journey is that of a young girl. Winnie is a hopeful child. As a young teenager, Winnie makes bad decisions. Her journey across the country is filled with excitement. When she arrives at the opposite coast Winnie meets Colt. Colt and Winnie's daughter, Sarah, make a journey back across the country to bring this story full circle.
I enjoyed the short listen. The characters are true to the time period. Overall, definitely a five star. I only gave the performance a four star because I felt the narrator struggled a little with distinguishing the different characters. The narration is still a good performance.
Thank you, Robyn Harding, for the opportunity to listen.

Captivating Adventure

Fulfilling the last wishes of Winnie, a misguided yet sympathetic character, Colt and his daughter Sarah embark on an adventure. They take a journey across Canada to find Winnie's mother/Sarah's grandmother ... whose name, address, and surname are unknown. going only on the name of the home town and vague information about being within walking distance of the beach, they set out. The strength of their bond, the uprightness of Colt, and the great descriptions of the Canadian wilderness made this a fun listen.

The performance was lacking. The narrator had difficulty distinguishing characters despite her efforts. I think the performance could have been enhanced with additional narrators
