Story
It has been thousands of years since beast-kind were united under one banner. The empire encompasses most of the known world, driving out or enslaving the lesser races without mercy. In a state of constant war and conquest, they have perfected the art of battle. For commoner wolf-kind Valian, being accepted and trained in a noble house's army was a dream come true. Without wealth or a family, it was his best shot at attaining honor and glory. Until fate intervened. When Valian discovers he's descended from an ancient and long-thought-extinct line, everything changes.

Publisher's Summary
It has been 18 years since the fall of the Reborn King, and Jayden Stedding, son of Gewey, dreams of adventure. Life as a farmer in Sharpstone offers very little excitement. But like his father before him, fate will descend like a storm and soon he will learn that with adventure comes peril. And when you are the son of a god, that peril can shatter worlds.
Heaven is once again in turmoil and Gewey Stedding is missing. And it falls to Jayden to find him. But his journey will take him places even the gods fear to tread. Carried to the edge of madness, he must restore hope and prevent time itself from being upended.

The Journey continues
I am thrilled Brian Anderson has chosen to continue the story. The plot and character development are very well crafted. I especially like listening to characters in previous novels and how they are woven into this new adventure. Derek, once again was an excellent choice to continue the narration. His talent in making the characters come alive is amazing. I hope Brian will be releasing the next volume very soon!

Not a continuation
I find it hysterical that people think this is continuing the series. Bryan has stated that it’s the final book, and because it is the final book, I think it is hands-down a terrible fit. The timeline change was so necessary and really added nothing, and I don’t really understand the ending, it seems like a paradox Donnie Darko style which is so far fetched from the original story and plot.
Narrator is great, I appreciate the emotion Perkins brings to this series and his myriad of voices and tones are great, will probably pick up more audiobooks with him narrating.
This is a first hand impression, I just finished the book not even 15 minutes ago, so it’s likely that my opinion will change over time, and maybe I will understand what Bryan was going for with this book later, but as of right now, I think this book was unnecessary, but the call back to some characters was extremely welcome and enjoyable.
*Spoilers ahead*
I wanna talk about the ending. If Jaden and Gewey are both cast back into the past, and for the original story to occur, Gewey technically has to die, because the elves are alive. If Gewey dies, does jaden cease to exist? And if jaden ceases to exist, doesn’t it make the entire story non existent? Is it a cheeky way of saying hey thus is a book, and it isn’t real? Or is the way it ends being left open ended by the final battle not taking place before the book ends a way of signifying that Jaden finds a different way back home? Or does it signify that jaden establishes Peace and the elves and humans get along because he convinces his father not to commit genocide? More questions than answers, which I guess is fine because it’s different and creative, but it’s a real head scratcher. Can’t say I’m impressed but I’ll remember this, for better or for worse.

Like Father, Like Son
If you get the world and character building right, then you’re more than half way there and this series had both.
Moving forward 18 years, this book follows Jayden, Gewey’s son, who I have to admit not taking a liking to at all. That said, I enjoyed the book immensely. However, I did not find this book wrapped up the Chronicles at all, if anything it left the ending wide open, but I do not see another book coming, so I am not sure where it leaves us!
