Publisher's summary

You can break free from porn addiction and find a new life.

Ensnared by shame and secrecy for years, Hugh finally discovered the freedom he so desperately desired. Apply the practical strategies he used and escape the hamster wheel of compulsive pornography use. Get the inspiration, motivation, and information you have been looking for as you begin your own journey to the LIGHT. Honest, hard-hitting, helpful, and hopeful!

This story of one man's courageous battle against lust and pornography shows how a Christian (even a pastor) can be trapped in the darkness, feeling isolated and afraid to ask for help. Yet Hugh's story of heartbreak, humility, and trusting in Christ shows how God offers new life to everyone willing to seek it. When Hugh finally confessed his secret double life to his wife of 30 years, it almost destroyed her. Yet out of this terrible pain, the Lord brought forgiveness and healing. Their marriage today is stronger than ever! This can be your story too! There is HOPE for anyone enslaved by sin, because Jesus came to set the captives free.

Critic reviews

"I love this book! I plan on making it part of the treatment plan for clients in my private practice. You will be highly entertained by the amazing stories he outlines that provide practical application for managing a porn addiction." (Eddie Capparucci, LPC, C-CSAS, author of Going Deeper: How the Inner Child Impacts Your Sexual Addiction.)

"Hugh's book is a great resource for Christian men battling this all-too-prevalent virus in the church. It is Christ-centered, practical and edifying. Read it. You'll be glad you did." (Russell Willingham, executive director, New Creation Ministries, author of Breaking Free: Understanding Sexual Addiction & the Healing Power of Jesus)

"Hugh has his finger on the pulse of the compulsive pornography addict - driven to insanity by their own idolatry of the things of this world. With brutal honesty, he captures and exposes the casually destructive thoughts that lead us down the path toward our own destruction. He insists that the highest of human experiences is knowing the Son of the Living God. Bravo Hugh for bringing the light. Let the jailbreak begin!" (Paul Edwards, author of Business Beyond Business)

Relatable story

Porn addiction is way more common than you think. This story comes from the approach of a pastor, who didn't think it could happen to him, but it did. He was ashamed and embarrassed. His approach was to fight it by sticking to pure thoughts. It also includes sections for discussion groups.

A freedom finding project!

Overall this is a great book the author bring some great points out for the reader to ponder. He does a great job sharing his own life experience and how his choices affected himself, his family and others.

In one chapter he explains how his choice affected his wife, he shares her view points, her words, and her feels. For me his words brought pain to my heart because of my past and reminded me of how I had hurt my wife, but now I have decided to put that where it belongs in the past because it is not a present choice. I am thankful for that chapter. It brought healing.
Overall I believe this book is great because the author share lots of different options to help addicts find help in others, to find in their thought life and to find freedom. I have already recommended it to another man.

The speaker was great. I loved his voice and his timing was super. I didn’t get bored at all.

Honest, truthful and a message of hope.

This book, Jesus is Better than Porn is insightful, honest and shows the author's true heart before God.

He owns his choices and honestly shares the ways he deceived himself and caused pain to his loved ones.

To open up and leave oneself emotionally bare to the world, in order to help another soul out of the mirey pit of lust and addiction to pornography takes courage.

He and his wife are now paying forward that healing they found through Jesus Christ, the hard work of recovery and the support of many who surrounded them during this difficult time.

Excellent Book!

This is an excellent book that details the journey to freedom from porn addiction. As a recovering addict, it is great to read about others' struggles with this and the parallels of the author's journey to mine.

Great, Christ-centered book!

Jesus Is Better Than Porn is an amazing book that will truly help many people. While some books may focus on statistics regarding pornography's damage, this book is full of practical, spiritual information. It starts by exposing pornography for the ugly sin that it is. It calls our the lies people tend to tell themselves to stay in it. And it ends with encouraging spiritual help to elevate Christ and purity over the sin of pornography and lust. While this book focuses on pornography, I truly believe the ideas in the book would help people struggling with any vice or addiction. The narrator does a great job of conveying the ideas. Highly recommended!

Puritan Approach

This book has no east fixes. Its a pick up yourself by your boot straps and use you will power to get yourself free approach. So it’s the will power approach and watching every thought, every day of your life. But it’s worth the read because there is some good information in the book and the author is very open about his story and journey to freedom.

Lust is a sin

This book was very eye opening. A lot of men deal with lust. Not necessarily just Porn. Looking at someone lustfully is a sin. Some say everyone does it, but that doesn’t make it ok.
