Janice Galloway redefined contemporary Scottish fiction with the extraordinary The Trick Is to Keep Breathing, first published in 1989, going on to become a towering presence in British literature, winning the McVitie's Prize, the EM Forster Award, the Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award and the SMIT Non-fiction Book of the Year. She is a novelist, short story writer, memoiriere, librettist, essayist and poet.
Following on from her most recent award-winning creative nonfiction, This Is Not About Me and All Made Up, comes her fourth short story collection, the outstanding Jellyfish, confirming her position as one of the most elegant, unflinching, masterful chroniclers of contemporary life and love.
"Galloway flecks her hard-edged realism with impressionist grace-notes, a potent mixture that confirms her as one of Scotlands best young writers." (Sunday Telegraph)
"Where You Find It is the real McCoy. No-one writes like Galloway." (Sunday Sun)
"The writing can be felt on your pulses. Galloway is a literary endoscopist. Writing has rarely been so visceral." (Independent)
"In this collection, among bars of darkness, are spears of lights only Janice Galloway knows how to sharpen." (Scotland on Sunday)
"In her best work, nothing is ordinary...she makes the surreal flicker like a blue flame from the edge of the everyday." (Times Literary Supplement)

A wonderful narrator
A nice collection of short stories, some better than others but several are really quite moving or thought provoking
