Publisher's Summary

Award-winning actor, director, and playwright Tom Mula performs his best-selling version of Scrooge’s ordeal, told from the point of view of Scrooge’s former business partner: Marley’s ghost!

“Scrooge? I have to redeem old Scrooge? The one man I knew who was worse than I was? Impossible!”

So begins the real story behind Dickens’ A Christmas Carol - the story of Marley’s heroic behind-the-scenes efforts to save old Scrooge’s soul - and in the process, save his own. Aided by a Bogle, a malicious little hell-sprite with an agenda of his own, their hilarious journey takes them from the jaws of death to the gates of Hell - and beyond! This irreverent, funny, and ultimately, deeply moving story retells Dickens’ classic with warmth and infectious zest.

This audiobook was broadcast for seven seasons on National Public Radio. Complete with a brilliant score by Lawrence Schanker, with sound by Robert Neuhaus and production by Steve Rashid, this thrilling performance is sure to become a holiday classic for generations to come!

A delightful take on a timeless story

This charming, slightly cheeky retelling of A Christmas Carol was a real treat. The characters are fun and relatable, even as the message is delightful and even brought me to a tear or two. The narrator also seemed to be having fun with it! I am relatively new to audiobooks and I loved this one immensely.

The other side of the tale

Delightful take on the participation of the other partner. Someone pointed out that Dickens completed his story in a hurry, and if he'd had more time, he might have done something like this. Tom Mula makes an excellent reader, and knows exactly what expressions to use for his characters. Try it, you'll love it.

Awful Book

A very bad take on the Dickens' tale. Do yourself a favor, if you want a well written and preformed book abot Jacob Marley, get Jacob T. Marley by R. William Bennett. I'll be looking to get a refund on this drivel.

Wonderful Christmas Story!

This wonderful Christmas story is by far the best of several sequels and variants of Charles Dickens classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge's redemption. The story is great and the performance is excellent as well!

Love this point of view

I first heard the story on the radio program during the Christmas season about 20 years ago. I looked it up then and found an audio cassette version of it. I listen to that at least once each year (even digitized it so that I could listen to it on my electronic devices).
I was so delighted to find the Audible audiobook version of this. I love the way Tom Mula does the characters and the story is a very wonderful one for this time of year.
I highly recommend this book!

Story and performance very good

Some of the british-isms were comically wrong, but on the whole an excellent story excellently performed.

An American would not detect any faults with the British-isms.
