Publisher's summary

In this national best-seller, Robert Bly explores the idea of the missing father in contemporary society. He draws upon a cornucopia of legend and literature - as varied as the poetry of William Blake, Jungian psychology, and Sioux initiation rituals - to encourage men in their pursuit of the “inner warrior.”

The unlocking of an important puzzle.

The smearing of Robert Bly by the women"s movement just showed how un-read these people were at the time. Men who desire to find out what is going on in their lives, (and the women who love them), and why many are so dis-satisfied with the way things are, can profit handsomely from this book. It is an excellent gift, hard won by Bly's years of research and experiences of working in men's groups. Of benefit to every Western male I know. This is not a once over book however. No problem; the serious reader will find themselves wanting to go back, again as they see themselves perhaps for the first time. Like the unlocking of an important puzzle.

Pivotal for Boys to Become MEN

What did you love best about Iron John?

This is a Traditional story that is told AND decoded by the great Robert Bly. Without his interpretation of this story, it would be just another Disney production. Robert Bly breaks down this story as stages of initiation that cannot be neglected or passed over in order to live a complete and whole life as a man. What do i love best about it? How the story came ALIVE in me.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the Boy, and his evoloving relationship with the Wild Man.

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

i heard the one narrated by Robert Bly. i guess i'll have to listen again to Richard's version. i hope it doesn't suck.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A Call To All Men! The World Needs Us!

Any additional comments?

Bring back Robert Bly's narration of this please

The antidote to wokeness and gender identity

Back when I first saw Bill Moyers' "A Gathering of Men" in 1990, the intelligence of Robert Bly has helped explain so many aspects of modern male being.

I finally read this, the book behind it, and the insights are STUNNING in today's world.

I can't see how any sane person would want to eliminate gender or confuse females with males after reading this. In fact, this book should be required reading for any parent desiring to mess with their child's sexual identity. In fact, ANYONE who is the victim of serial abuse, identity assault, or gender discrimination needs to read this amazing work.

Other that Joseph Cambell, Bly is one of the few authors of our time with Wisdom about this topic.

Heal, men, and read this book starting now.

A very important read

A wonderful tail, masterfully told and beautifully read. This story and the analysis by Robert Bly is a testament to the power of our individual nature as human beings. It’s reminds us that it’s good to engender your self as male or female and that not doing so is so detrimental to us individually and collectively as a society. Be proud of masculinity. Embrace mentorship.
