Publisher's Summary

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Jeff Wheeler continues his majestic Harbinger series in a world where motivations are as mysterious as magic.

For three years, Sera Fitzempress has been a pawn in a gilded prison - the floating manor of Pavenham Sky. Disgraced and exiled from society, she has been isolated from the downtrodden she’s determined to liberate. But although Sera may seem subservient on the outside, the stubborn princess has only become emboldened.

Now in charge of her family’s estate, Cettie Pratt has grown into an independent young woman, although she continues to be tested by the high society of the clouds. Advancing in the magic of the Mysteries, Cettie is also a useful tool of defense during turbulent times. However, as more of Cettie’s mysterious past comes to light, her greatest challenge may be a reckless stranger with a dark secret.

The fog of war is drawing in, and with it comes a startling new enemy who may unravel secrets that both women would prefer stay hidden. But their secrets may be the only way to stop the coming darkness....

What a fantastic web!!!!

The worlds Mr. Wheeler has woven are wonderful!! They are ALL a must read. As stand alone series they are great- but as a culmination of people, cultures, ideas and stories..... FABULOUS!!! In my opinion, they are NOT long enough!!! The characters are passionate, thought filled, and believable. The stories...... GEE WHIZ....... where could I start?!
My only advice to Mr. Wheeler- please hurry and release books sooner!!!

Boring

I can't even finish this book. I have four hours to go and I'm just deleting it. It had no action or passion. The first book of this series was good. I'm finished with it now.

Predictable

While Wheeler has created an interesting world with a compelling story to tell, he's not the one to tell it. The most important elements of the narrative are glossed over as we are subjected to tedious, predictable dialogue. It leaves the reader in the curious position of wanting to know what happens while also groaning at the lack of substance. I really want to like this series, as the setting and characters have so much potential, but it's difficult to get there. Many of the elements in the setting, as well as the dialogue and the magic system, feel out of place, anachronistic, or simply forced.

Outstanding

This is such a wild, wicked, intricately complex suspense. The love, the heartache, the betrayals and surprises draw you to the next in series.

I'm obsessed

I listened to all three books in three days. It's so engaging, I'm in love with the characters and the wonderful twisting plot. So many exciting turns! The narrator does a very good job with the voices and hits with the right amount of emotion. The only ire I have is needing to wait until April for the fourth book.

I loved it!

I have recently discovered Jeff Wheeler and he has become a favorite. I appreciate that his books are all action filled, the characters deep, and the content clean without sexual innuendos or foul language.

I give it 5 stars.

Well written as always. My only grievance is how expressively sappy the Empress is. It is a little over the top. The plot, the characters and everything else is perfect.
