Kimonos are Japan's traditional national dress. 着物は、日本の伝統的な民族衣装です。
明治時代に洋装が取り入れられる前は、女性も男性もみんな着物を着ていました。
1960年代頃までは、着物は＂女性のよそ行き＂として着用されることも多く、町なかで着物姿の女性がよく見られたものです。
現在も着物は結婚式や卒業式などのセレモニー、または葬式など特別な場で着る礼服のような役割をもち、茶道や華道、舞踊など日本の伝統文化の場でも欠かせません。
いくつも重ね着をする着物は、慣れない人にとっては着るのが一苦労。
