Acerca de esta escucha

Mayhem is about to boil over.

After the most recent attack on their remote compound in Central Vermont, Abram and Nick find themselves safe, for now. But when a new group rises up to take advantage of the turmoil caused by the massive solar flare, Abram and his fledgling community will have to become more proactive if they want to survive.

A final threat that will spell their demise.

A member of this new group has intimate details of the compound and is ready to strike at a moment’s notice. But his leader’s plans are far sweeping and risk putting the entire region into the hands of a madman.

A time for leadership and strength.

With this new threat on the horizon, Abram, Nick, and their allies must act now to have any chance at long-term survival. Will they persevere through their most difficult test and find peace in their community? Or will they perish under the iron fist of Vermont’s new strongman, and suffer a fate even worse than death?

Instant Mayhem is book three in the EMP Crisis Series, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller series about regular people struggling to survive after a solar EMP.

Great book and narration by Kevin Pierce. He’s quickly becoming my favorite narrator. Again,…great book and great plot.

Great book

Every book by either of the two incredibly talented authors is always, without fail, a masterpiece. I don't believe that either of the two gentlemen are capable of subpar works, if they commit it to writing and submit it to the best narrator in recent memory, Kevin Pierce, chances are the finished product will shimmer and shine. Thank you for keeping your talent honed and refined, all of you are among the best of the genre and you bring us invaluable information, captivating stories, well designed plots and ridiculously well performed works of pure art. Well done guys!

*I am a professional critic and reviewer, but I am writing this review just as most of you, as a result of an Audible credit being expended and receiving this book through normal retail channels and although I have not been compensated for this work, I may have a professional relationship with the involved creators, this review is unrelated and my opinions are my own and are not a result of any past, present or future relationship.

didn't like book one, but book two was great and three even better. Sometimes sequels get worse, but not this time. Thanks for a great listen!

better than expected

Everyone likes a good story. Kevin Pearce is once again showing his best side as a performer. As for the series itself, I would give it a seven out of ten. Changes I would consider would be to sell all three as a box set, or at least two of them paired. Too expensive when purchased separately and it kept a lot of potential listeners from finishing the story in my opinion. The only other suggestion I would make would be to have delved into some of the technical aspects of building the compound. Specific preps, details of food types, volumes, plans and techniques. Worth a read for sure!

Overall great series

Good story in whole series, but kind of reminds me of old time western theme. Good guys may get bruised and suffer hardships, but they will win and find redemption for past errors. These folks were protected and acquired combat skills that were beyond belief. Need to work out realistic scenarios for future stories. You guys can also resist the phrase ,Flat-lined, and find alternate adjectives for variety. Look forward to more from these authors with considerably more plausible outcomes.

Too Predictable

A must read series for post apocalyptic fiction lovers. From start to finish, action packed and great overall story!

Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined. Lips flatlined..... See how annoying that is, Misters Russell & Holden? Not to mention it's a stupid, non-sensical description of someone's lips. Why in the world would you think it's ok to use the phrase once, let alone 50 times over the course of the series?? Stop, for the love of God! Made me want to stick forks in my ears every time by the end.

Anyway, got that out of my system! Lordy!

Ok, the compound's not featured much in this book, which makes you wonder why it's so important by the end. The focus is on two towns -- one has been taken over overnight by a couple psychopaths with everyone following along because why not, and the other is the supposed good guys town whose mayor is related to old Farmer Frank in the compound, though they don't get along. Drama!

One of the psychos is Gary, former resident of the compound and best friend of Abram. The guy has nine lives. Spends the entire book strong-manning, murdering, and basically being the psycho muscle for the main REAL psychopath, Palmer (aka Black), who is the new walk-on leader of the bad town after murdering the original beloved leader, who also seemed to have no qualms killing folks in his neighboring towns if they didn't do what he wanted. The reader patiently waits the entire book for their come-uppance.

Here's perhaps the biggest writer's no-no of the series (SPOILERS AHEAD, if you care)...... If you build up these two REALLY bad guys all series, and point us toward an ultimate showdown with the good guys (i.e. Abram & Nick), then you have to give the readers a satisfyingly grand finale showdown! However, in a complete thud plop of writing prowess, main psycho Black dies in a confusing train accident (granted grotesquely) with barely anyone noticing or caring. And Gary just dies (I guess?) when his SUV drives into a bottomless puddle of radioactive waste? We're not even "shown" him dying. Did I miss a final chapter from his perspective? I guess we're supposed to assume it was the same death as Black, melting off into the sludge. Is there a Book 4? Will he use one of his nine lives (again) to come back and seek revenge on the compound? Hopefully not. Just let this series melt off into its own radioactive sludge.

I should also mention that I didn't care for the narrator. He didn't distinguish between the voices enough, so it was very confusing at times as to who was talking or thinking, when I cared enough.

Good grief, save your money

The verbiage in the phases were pretty good!!!

When referring to a post apocalyptic situation not necessarily more blood and guts but definitely more octane and testosterone

More testosterone
