Publisher's summary

Stone Wilder is no less a daredevil bad boy than the rest of his brothers, especially when the thrill of a lifetime is about to arrive in a surprising package....

The Doctor Is In Deep

Wishful, California, is 3,000 miles from Dr. Emma Sinclair's last job in a New York City ER. Running her father's clinic for a summer, Emma treats bee stings, stomach flu, and the occasional pet cat. Then there's Stone Wilder: gorgeous, laid-back, and irritating beyond belief. Emma loathes him. Almost as much as she wants to throw him on her examining table and break every doctor-patient rule in the book....

Paging Dr. Sinclair....

All 3 books in Series are great! But wrong narrator

I love all 3 books in this series. I like this author and have enjoyed her other books. I was definitely pulled into the stories & really liked the characters but this is the wrong narrator for these 3 books. Her voice sounds too old and sometimes narrator has a strange accent that doesn’t fit characters. The narrator is fine when she’s just reading the story, but when trying to speak for the characters, she just doesn’t work. I really enjoyed Narrator Karen White who read Jill Shalvis other series Animal Magnetism and Cedar Ridge.

Another good one

Again, I enjoyed this one so much, I'm about to buy the next one. Looking forward to hearing TJ's and Harley's story.

PS. I love the little secondary stories too.

Stone's My Favorite Wilder (so far)

INSTANT GRATIFICATION is the second book in Jill Shalvis' Wilder series about three brothers that share the same last name. This time around we get middle brother, Stone's story.

Dr. Emma is uptight and only in Wishful for a short time (so she thinks) to run her father's practice while he recovers from a heart attack. Emma is use to running an ER in New York and the very slow pace of Wishful is driving her nuts. But not as nuts as the sexy Stone.

Stone is the glue that keeps the Wilder family together. He's the peace keeper, the one that does all the things the others don't want to do like the paperwork for Wilder Adventures and he's sexy as hell. And he can't wait to get Dr. Emma to loosen up and see what kind of fun they could have together.

Emma and Stone dance around each other for a while but once they start dancing together they really heat of the "pages" of INSTANT GRATIFICATION. If you're looking for a romance where the guy is an alpha outdoorsman and the gal is a city girl who needs a little dirtying up then you need to check out INSTANT GRATIFICATION by Jill Shalvis.

Narration:

Liisa Ivary's narration is growing on me. Liisa does an excellent job with the male voices and she manages to change her voice for the females characters where her non-dialogue voice is different, instead of it being the same as the heroine's which it is nice. I still think that Liisa's voice sounds a little too mature for these younger couples but that's something I'm willing to over look. I can't wait to listen to the next book, INSTANT TEMPTATION.

Cheerful romance but poor choice of narrator

This series is relatively fun, although carelessly written if you are lucky about prose. Its blocks to romance aren't depressing like some stories are. One problem is that the narrator's voice has a rasp that sounds older than the characters, especially for the women. There are a number of places where it is hard to tell who is talking at first. Just not a good choice for this series.

Better than the first book, but . . .

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the way they handled the sale of the clinic. I can't go into detail about what I'd change without spoiling the ending, but I was disappointed with that part.

If you’ve listened to books by Jill Shalvis before, how does this one compare?

I listened to the first book in this series. Both have the same narrator and I have the same problem as with the first book. Her voice is a little too old for the lead females, but she's a good storyteller.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Less emphasis on the doctor's part regarding her going back to her life in New York. At first it's understandable. After the relationship with Stone is showing promise, it seems a little unbelievable that she would throw it away.

Any additional comments?

I've read many of Jill's books and this won't be my last. Maybe the last book in the series will remind me why I fell in love with her books in the first place.

Liked the book not the narrator

I love Jill Shalvis stories but the voice the narrator used for the main characters was grating

Jill Shalvis makes the best characters.

So far I have found you can't go wrong with a Jill Shalvis romance. All the feels and just the right amount of sex.

Disappointed

Would you try another book from Jill Shalvis and/or Liisa Ivary?

Yes. I enjoyed the first book in this series and have also purchased the third book. I enjoyed the characters in the first book, and hope the third book is better than the second. I've also listened to other books by Jill Shalvis and enjoyed them.

What was most disappointing about Jill Shalvis’s story?

I really couldn't see why Stone was so interested in Emma. She was not a likeable character. I understand the physical interest -- but why Stone kept pursuing her was something I couldn't understand.

What does Liisa Ivary bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I enjoyed her performance and will look for other books performed by her in the future.

Could you see Instant Gratification being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

As I indicated earlier, the Emma character is so unpleasant, I can't see any reason to make a movie or tv series. The Wilder family would have promise -- hunky guys in the woods, but there would have to be better written.

Playing Doctor

Cute story of two very different people who live in two very different worlds, learning to love, trust and try new things.I like a man who knows what he wants,Stone Wilder is that man.Emma was a bit of a hard head getting to that point of allowing some one to love her and being comfortable with loving some one else. She found a reconnection with her dad and love as well.

Narrator spoils it

Narrator has odd accent for main character. Very annoying. Story is good, entertaining series. Best to read books in order.
