Publisher's summary

Romeo Bradly and Julius Shepherd moved to Blissville for the same reason: a fresh start. Romeo was looking for a school district where he could make a real impact in the lives of students and faculty, and Julius was eager to teach one of his passions to the best and brightest. But the sleepy little town offered them much more than they'd bargained for - quirky people, unlikely friendships, and an all-consuming attraction that turns them inside out.

When unexpected circumstances threaten to cancel the school play, Romeo's theater background and Julius's musical expertise make them the perfect pair to save the day. Working together so closely makes it harder for the men to ignore their growing feelings. After all, the heart knows what it wants and doesn't care about age gaps, race, or professional conflict of interest. Romeo and Julius will learn that they have far more in common than they realize, and their differences will make them stronger.

Their commitment to each other and the play will be tested when outside forces target them as a couple and exert pressure to cancel the production. Romeo and Julius vow to prove that their love can conquer any challenge.

Contains mature themes.

phenomenal performance

I've read to all of Ms. Walker's Blissville stories and have fallen in love with the characters. Joel Leslie brings them to life beautifully and makes me fall in love with them all over again.

Joel saved this plot less book.

The pros: I love anything Joel narrates, and I enjoyed his attempt at an authentic African American voice. While it wasn't the best I appreciate his attempt with his Australian/ New Zealander accent (I believe he calls one of these places home). The best was Jules' mom's voice.
Now the cons: the entire lack luster plot. There was no plot or any real issues in the lives of any of the characters. I don't mind a happy go lucky story but this was a bit too flowers and rainbows for me.
I did love all the quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

Romeo & Julius

Aimee Nicole Walker brings great life and live to the town of Blissville like no one else can imagine. I so enjoyed reading this book when it first came but to listen to Joel Leslie narrating is such an awesome treat. He truly brings loving life to these characters. I highly recommend this series for it's many different characters and the life and love they share. AWESOME JOB!⚘⚘⚘

True and Pure

This book shows how life should be for everyone. It relates to humanity as a whole. Gay, straight, bisexual, transgender, gender fluid, etc. It doesn’t matter. As a Christian straight white woman, I believe in “LOVE thy neighbor” and treating others as you would want to be treated. This book brings that to light in its entirety. That love has no bounds and doesn’t discriminate even in the face of the cruelty and repression that some want the world to stay in.
I not only gave this book 5 stars, I give the author 5 stars as well. I pray that one day books like this on will be more non fiction than not.

Joel as always was lovely but the story fell flat

Again, this didn’t come off as an Aimee book. Not only was the sex glazed over or fade to black (which is unusual for her), there were things in the story I’d never expect Aimee to have in one of her books. Like Rome’s best friends just casually letting their rich friends be racist toward Julius and no one did anything about it or the weird villainizing of Rome’s dead husband. It was just cheap writing. I did like Rome and Julius and they were sweet but this was way too long and I’m bummed it didn’t include anyone else from the universe she’s written about so far.

another good one!

Inside Out is the 6th book of the Blissville series. This one can easily be read as a standalone. This is a very light hearted and funny story. Romeo and Julius are both well developed characters. The two men come together after fighting their attraction, to help a trio of kids bring their school musical to life. As a huge musical nerd, I thoroughly loved this plot line. Julius ends up composing the music and the scene when Romeo hears it for the first time is absolute magic. When word gets out about this musical, a homophobic faction arises to try and shut the production down. Even with the threat of a homophobic group on the rampage, this story has very little angst and still comes off as a very sweet and swoon worthy read.
Narration by Joel Leslie was fantastic as always. He is a master of voices!!!

All the feels

This was awesome listen. I read the book when it came out and totally enjoyed it. This audio, however took it to another level. The emotional nature of the narration gave it such a different feel. Loved every second. Aimee Nicole Walker and Joel Leslie are a great duo. Highly recommend.
