I have missed the Dark Hunter universe!!

This book is a wonderful side story to the Dark Hunter series. It fills in the back story of Nick very well. I love that Simi was featured in the story!

As a lover of fantasy, mythology, engaging plots, vivid scenes, and memorable characters, this book was much better than I'm used to reading/listening to. Unfortunately I already listened to another book not knowing it was part of a series so some of the surprise was stolen from me. Regardless, it was an outstanding piece of work, and since I know what's going to happen already, I can recognize, and respect the excellent foreboding hints dropped throughout the book. Not to mention the heavy sarcasm does a great job of building a unique and rememberable character. The author did a great job of setting the scene and describing thoughts and portraying emotion. The plot had direction and the subplots helped develop the characters and further the main story. The narrator, in my personal opinion, was great. The main characters were distinguishable and the reading was practiced and understandable. That being said, there were a few rare times (two or three throughout the entire book) where I believe the narrator could've portrayed the intended emotion just a bit better. Just my personal thoughts.

Tl;dr, it was a great and detailed story with memorable characters with defining traits and a narrator who has obviously done this before. Will I get the next book? I've already downloaded the entire series.

Great start for Nick's saga!!

I really loved this book and was surprised really. I will watch zombie movies IE: Resident Evil, however I had no desire to read about them.That being said, I am a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon so I trusted her and took a chance and she has changed my mind, at least in Nick's saga. I had so many questions about Nick and didn't like what she did to him in the Dark Hunter books. I see now, she had a plan all along on what she was doing with Nick's character. I know this review sounds kind of weird, but I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't read this book or the Dark Hunter books. All I can say is, trust the master of this series and the DH series. She has it all worked out and if you love Sherrilyn Kenyon's work, you will not be disappointed!! I can't wait for the next installment in Nick's story!!GREAT BOOK!!!
