Publisher's Summary

Quaid is adrift in MPU. With his partner on extended leave, he’s alone and unsure if he wants to continue working on missing persons cases now that his sister’s case is closed. When the missing teen he’s been seeking for a week turns up dead, it’s the icing on the cake.

Maybe it’s time to explore a different career path.

Aslan and his partner, Torin, take over Quaid’s case, but Quaid can’t help but get involved. He wants justice for the girl. Justice for her grieving family.

Is homicide the career change he’s been looking for?

The trio makes a solid team, and their banter takes the edge off a serious case. Working alongside Aslan again is fantastic. They have found a balance that works, but for as comfortable as they have become as a couple, for as inevitable as their future together seems, something’s missing.

Aslan is ready to take the next step in their relationship, but Quaid needs certain feelings to be disclosed first.

Do actions speak louder than words? Or is there magic in saying I love you?

Inevitable Disclosure is the fourth book in the Valor and Doyle Mystery Series. It is a same-couple series that should be listened to in order. Although each book has a self-contained mystery with no cliff-hangers, the romance is overarching and progressive throughout the series.

Love this Series, Love this Story

How can a fourth book in the series about the same couple be so good. I loved following Aslan and Quaid, their relationship development and sweet moments and at the same time I was captivated by the unfolding mystery. Narrator did a great gob telling this story, his voice and talent made this a perfect listening experience.

Wow, Just Amazing!

Revisited on audio and wow what a powerhouse of a performance by Nick Russo. The book rocked me to my core when I read it, and the audio just blew it out of the stratosphere!

We are back with our favorite detectives in this 4th book in the series and each time I think it can't get any better I am proven wrong. Wow, just wow. This book just hit on all cylinders. First we have the continuing romance between Aslan and Quaid that has been evolving since the start. It was just magnificent here. They are really moving forward together and it was a joy to read about. The way Aslan just gets Quaid, accepts him, loves him. It was just wonderful. I loved their vollying back and forth about everything and anything. It made me laugh, it made me smile, it made me swoon.
And then we have the case they are working together on, which was a doosy! I do not want to spoil anything but it really rocked me to my core. I just loved following along with Alsan, Quaid and Torin as they tried to figure out what was going on. We were treated to some surly teenagers, an incredible who-done-it, and a conclusion that literally had my hand fly up to my mouth in a gasp and left me reeling. Just so incredible. So emotional. So amazing. I am waiting with bated breath now for book 5!

Wow. Just wow.

I seized this book practically the day it came out and listened almost non-stop. As with all the books in this series, it blew me away.

I’m a huge fan of Aslan and Quaid as a couple. They’ve come through all kinds of adversity and are still hanging in there. Quaid still won’t leave clothes at Aslan’s place and Aslan hasn’t been able to say those three little words since he uttered them to Quaid while drugged. What’s Quaid supposed to think? They’re practically living together but haven’t said those three LITTLE words. So is Aslan really committed? And if Quaid can’t let go of his past with Jack and all the damage that caused, is he even fit to be in a relationship with a guy who used to be quite the playboy?

This book jumps pretty quickly into the mystery. Quaid has a missing teenager who turns up dead. Homicide is Aslan’s department, but with Quaid’s partner Eden off work because of her daughter, Quaid’s adrift. So their bosses agree to let Quaid help out on the murder case.

OMG, high school. I so do not miss those days. And this group of the dead girl’s friends reminded me why I felt that way. And James’s description of a high school gymnasium was so vivid that I could’ve been back at my old high school. Powerful and got the point across – that’s a very angsty time in the lives of teenagers.

Now, I did consider and dismiss the ultimate killer. So I was sort of proud of myself? But well done, didn’t see all the twists and turns along the way.

Anyway, there’s a prologue then a jump back in time and I’d forgotten the prologue until the appropriate time.

This is just a great book and I can recommend it. Best enjoyed if you’ve been following the series, but it has a full arc of a mystery contained within.

Loving Nick J. Russo’s narration – he adds that extra spark to the books. There’s one more book and I’m hoping Aslan and Quaid will take the ultimate step. We’ll have to see…

Inevitable Disclosure

This series is getting better and better. The story line has supporting characters which are growing and evolving along with the two main characters. Nicky James has given a good foundation and has allowed us to see the flaws and struggles of these people. I am pulling for them and can’t wait to see what happens next. Nick Russo does a great job of bringing the book to life. Hope he continues with this series.
Thank you to Nicky and to Nick

Running out of superlatives

This series is on my all-time favorites list, and each book gets better than the last. Nick J Russo brings the cast to life and I enjoy listening to it as much as I did reading it...and I literally read this one in a single sitting.
If you are new to the series, start at the beginning, as Quinn and Aslan's relationship develops slowly through each book. If you've read or listened to the others but are on the fence about this one, DO IT. You'll be glad you did!

Quaid❤️Aslan

The relationship between Quaid and Aslan really unfolds and strengthens in this 4th installment. Nick Russo again performs exceptionally well, he is a very gifted voice actor, who gives the outstanding words of Nicky James life in my ears on my many strolls by the sea and in the woods.

Normally I prefer reading books with my eyes and I have enjoyed and read almost all of Nicky James' books. This series is romantic suspense, and I fear I would have browsed through much of the suspense, as I am not much of a suspense reader, but Nick Russo voiced every character so excellent(even the scary parts) and believable that I truly enjoyed the book as a whole.

Quaid and Aslan though - they are off the charts💥❤️I could happily read a book where they do laundry and drink coffee and be satisfied💫

Well plotted

The murder mystery was well plotted, and the evolution of Valor and Doyles relationship was nicely observed. I usually guess whodunnit early in a book but this one has me gripped until the revelation. Well Done!

High intensity

Nick J. Russo has almost convinced me to give up books and go to audios. He brings to life the characters and the strong emotions that are a part of this story. Listening made me hear stuff I seem to not remember from the book. This author is fabulous in her ability to write stories that are so varied in characters, location and lives. Each story is so original and so well told that I am able to picture it as if I were there.

This is the next story in the Valor and Doyle Mystery Series and the author just keeps heightening the intensity of the story. While each book is not supposed to be a cliffhanger…I think this comes pretty close.
I could not set this down. I ignored so much I was suppose to do because I was so involved in this story and couldn’t find a place to set it aside.
Quaid is questioning his career choices. He likes MPU but with his partner most likely not coming back anytime soon he is faced with the problem of working with someone else. He knows he has his quirks and doesn’t do change well at all. He decides to take a look at other departments to see if he might like to make the change more than just co-worker. He is also supposedly looking into a missing/runaway high school girl. Most feel she ran away so he is not concentrating on finding her like if he knew she was kidnapped. Then her body if found. This brings in Aslan and Torin. They are assigned her murder. Quaid asks to be included and they set about working as a team to find what happened to her.
At the same time the romance between Quaid and Aslan is getting more intense. They are spending their nights together and while Aslan is ready to move forward with the relationship, Quaid is being more careful. This part intensifies also as decisions are made about the path their relationship will take.
So much goes on in this story. The detectives interfacing with teenagers gets frustrating, working with co-workers changes and a number of decisions are made concerning the romance. Now the sad part. This does answer all the questions, in a surprising result, about the murder. But the relationship between co-workers and Quaid and Aslan is left open to a number of questions. This is where I wish the author wrote faster or that the whole series were released at once. The problem is I don’t want this series to ever end. The characters are so likable and entertaining. Their personalities leave open so many more stories. I hope the author keeps this series going forever.

I Felt The Frustration!

This awesome series with Aslan and Quaid continues, they have a new case that will take the whole team to solve...

This case has 5 teenagers that will have the detectives so frustrated and irritated that it's so funny at times. However from the prologue you will know to expect the unexpected, and the last chapter is sure to leave you feeling emotional.

Aslan and Quaid are making huge decisions in their relationship and feelings are more in the open, but my sweet Quaid still needs more reassurances. How will Aslan keep him happy?

I want to thank Nick J Russo for making these books so very enjoyable to listen to, he brings each and every character to life each with different nuances . Excellent writing and great narration.

A superbly plotted murder/mystery romance

Every time I think that Nicky James can’t improve on the last book in this series, I’m proved wrong. Each case the boys are called upon to solve is more complex and demanding than the last. All the while they’re dealing with the intense pressures of their jobs their delicious romance is developing and maturing as they find more and more ways to support each other.

We know from the start that Aslan Doyle is going to suffer a traumatic incident and the anticipation of waiting for it to happen only adds to the overall suspense and tense atmosphere of the story. We are sent in many different directions with so many plausible suspects that my mind was reeling.

Quaid is on a bit of a downer since the mystery surrounding the disappearance of his sister has been solved. He’s spent his entire adult life trying to solve her case and now that’s he’s brought a measure of peace to his Dad and himself he’s left kind of empty and wondering if his time in Missing Persons has run its course and maybe a change of departments might be the answer.

The disappearance, and subsequent murder of a teenage girl whose case he‘s been working on doesn’t help his mood. He’s always been his own worse critic; second guessing his actions even whilst throwing himself into anything and everything he does 100% both emotionally and professionally.

A hopeless romantic, Quaid is also dreadfully insecure after a toxic relationship left him unsure of who he can trust. His ongoing relationship with Aslan is progressing beautifully but ‘the words’ haven’t been spoken and such is his insecurity that he actually needs to hear them. His tender heart needs them. I can honestly say that I melted when Aslan finally steps up to the mark. Heck… I needed to hear them!

Nicky James is building a superb cast of secondary characters and I’m loving them almost as much as I love Valor and Doyle. Torin is the perfect working partner for Doyle… oh my but I loved the swear box. What can I say? This author is just fabulous. I love everything she writes and this series is beyond words. The banter, the romantic moments, the drama, the mystery… all superb. Off the scale.

Nick Russo is the voice of Valor and Doyle, he’s just perfect and I can’t praise him highly enough. Such a brilliant team… James/Russo/Valor/Doyle. Utter perfection.

Good, with some pet peeves

Well narrated and nice romance along with the mystery, although the 'mystery' consisted for 70% of teens bad-mouthing each other. What really ruined my enjoyment was the emphasis on 'saying the words'. These are middle-aged detectives. Those don't discuss their thoughts about saying out loud 'I love you' with colleagues. In my opinion this fabricated conflict belongs in dime novels for teenage girls, complete with several cheesy moments.

So amazing

Story: I am usually not a huge fan of a series following the same couple over multiple books, but Quaid and Aslan are a brilliant, and very welcome exception.
Nicky James created an emotional, riveting and genuine power couple that brings new facets of their personalities to the table with every book.
I loved this next chapter of their story and am already anxious for more!
Narration: Brilliant. I can't help but hear the characters in Nick J. Russo voice even when reading the books.

Absolutely brilliant.

I cannot begin to tell you how brilliant this book is. Nicky James has written an absolute masterpiece of a story with a gripping mystery. Combine that with a flawless performance by Nick J Russo and it kept me listening long into the night. He’s a master of his art making it so easy to distinguish between characters and maintains the tones and cadences throughout the whole performance.

Aslan, Quaid and Torin are faced with multiple suspects including teenagers - and don’t some of them have an attitude. The intriguing plot is intricately weaved and kept me guessing. I’d narrowed it down to two characters and even though I’d eventually, and very late in the piece, guessed correctly, I was still gobsmacked with the outcome even though the prologue was the perfect set up for the ending.

Amongst all the stresses of an ongoing investigation, Aslan and Quaid’s romance takes another major step forward after reassurances are made, feelings validated and an overall sense of security taking hold. Of course they still disagree on food choices, the supply closet gets another clandestine visit and there’s plenty of banter between them to lighten things up.

I love the way the relationship between these two wonderful men is developing and I’m looking forward to where the next book takes them.
