Publisher's Summary

In the Labyrinth of Drakes: the thrilling new audiobook in the acclaimed fantasy series from Marie Brennan, as the glamorous Lady Trent takes her adventurous explorations to the deserts of Akhia.

Even those who take no interest in the field of dragon naturalism have heard of Lady Trent's expedition to the inhospitable deserts of Akhia. Her discoveries there are the stuff of romantic legend, catapulting her from scholarly obscurity to worldwide fame. The details of her personal life during that time are hardly less private, having provided fodder for gossips in several countries.

As is so often the case in the career of this illustrious woman, the public story is far from complete. In this, the fourth volume of her memoirs, Lady Trent relates how she acquired her position with the Royal Scirling Army; how foreign saboteurs imperiled both her work and her well-being; and how her determined pursuit of knowledge took her into the deepest reaches of the Labyrinth of Drakes, where the chance action of a dragon set the stage for her greatest achievement yet.

could not stop listening

I loved every breath-taking moment of this narrative. Marie Brennan's words drew me along and swept me away through the beautiful telling by Kate Reading. I simply could not stop listening. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves dragons, or is simply interested in fantasy writings. The telling allows the reader to hang on every word and draws forth the vivid imagry of tramping through an arid desert during civil unrest and unknown dangers.

Can’t stop listening

I am hooked. I just finished In the Labyrinth of Drakes after I had also gone quickly and anxiously through the previous books in this series. I am entertained am thoroughly impressed with the intellect and planning and craftiness by which Ms. Brennan has created these stories. I cannot wait to start Book 5.
Ms. Reading is amazing in her performance and ability to voice the characters with such distinct individuality. Bravo!

Wonderful series and amazing narration

This is the fourth book in the Lady Trent series and was a wonderful continuation of this series. This series just keeps getting better and better. I love the characters, the adventure, and the alternate history.

I listened to this on audiobook and these audiobooks have been amazingly well done. I would highly recommend listening to these on audiobook if you enjoy audiobooks.

This book sees Lady Trent and Tom employed by the Scirling Army in an effort to start a dragon breeding program. This time Lady Trent’s travels take her to Suhail’s homeland where the politics are just as complicated as in her previous adventures.

I really loved some of the things they learned about the desert drakes and enjoyed all the adventures they went on. I also loved the interactions between Isabella and Suhail. I did miss Jake and wish he had been in the story some (he is off at boarding school for this book).

Overall this was a delightful read and I loved it even more than previous books. I am excited to see where things end up in the final book in the series. I would recommend this series to those who enjoy historical fantasy with a lot of science (about dragons) and adventure.

I was skeptical when I first found this series at a bar es and nobles years ago but after an hour of down time over some coffee I've come to appreciate the power of a good story. little drawn out here and there at times but ultimately...i love the series! 🙂

Excellent story!

This was an excellent adventure story; my favorite so far in the series. Kate Reading is an amazing narrator. I can't wait to find out what happens in the final volume.

4th book down and moving right into the 5th. I can't get enough! I wish there were 80 more, detailing the world and the exploits of other characters. I'd buy them all!

wonderful book

I'm so sorry that I'm almost at the end of the series. Each book was good in itself, but the whole keeps getting better.

there are other series by Brennan that if you haven't read you should.

All the best elements of a Lady Trent novel

This really is the best in the series, in a lot of ways, even though it isn't the grand finale. It's exciting and dashing and fun. Parts are utterly hilarious. And the grand discovery is breathtaking, especially if you're old enough to remember another discovery. But the best part is seeing Isabella get to be the serious scientist that she is. Not just the outrageous explorer... although there is that, too.

Kate Reading, as always, is superb.
