Christmas travels

I listened to this story following the three sister’s stories. It was well written, and did a good job describing Antebellum Georgia. It was refreshing to learn about other time travelers, and their adventures. It is light reading, with a bit of humor. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook am voluntarily leaving my review.

A Charming Seasonal Time Travel Story

This was my first experience with Casi McLean's work, and it was delightful. Dr. Carson Marlow couldn't remember what had happened to her in the last 24 hours. She stumbled upon Piers Bradley, who offered to help her. The setting of this story was lovely. I enjoyed the delightful characters, but none of them seemed quite real, as there were no consequences to their decisions or actions. Amanda Stribling's narration was fine. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Carson and Piers

“In Time for Christmas” is a well-crafted time travel romance that blends romance, mystery, and adventure into a truely enjoyable and heartwarming story. When Carson Marlow regained consciousness on a sandy beach, she had no idea how she got there or how she sustained an injury to her head; all she had were vague images of a man holding her underwater. She sets off trying to find help and encounters Piers Bradley naked under a waterfall.

Piers is immediately drawn to this strange, beautiful woman, and being the perfect southern gentleman, insists on taking Carson to his home to make sure her wounds are attended to. Carson is in awe of his magnificent mansion home, its furnishings and grounds remind her of plantations built over two hundred years earlier, and at first she assumes it’s a reconstruction. But as hard as it is to believe, she soon realises she’s travelled back in time to 1863. Doubting anyone will believe she’s from the future, she keeps the truth to herself, fearing she might be labelled insane.

As Piers and Carson spend time together, their relationship becomes more than host and guest. Still, when a boar injures a child on the plantation, Carson is forced to reveal she’s a doctor, but the antibiotics needed to save the child won't be developed for years and without them, the child will die. Carson risks telling Piers the truth, that she's somehow travelled back in time, and although she desperately wants to stay with Piers, she knows the only way to save the child’s life is to return to her own time and bring back the needed medicine. Will she be able to get there? If she does will she be able to return. If Carson can return to the future, what about the man who believes he killed her?

I was captivated from the beginning to the end. The author's writing style is descriptive; she paints pictures with her words. I could easily picture the Christmas decorations and the joyful celebrations. Carson and Piers's story is brought to life by Amanda Stribling's excellent narration. I recommend “In Time for Christmas”.
