Publisher's Summary

As a child, Petr Jasek watched Soviet tanks roll through the streets of his village in Czechoslovakia, taking the country by force and subjecting it to decades of Communist oppression. Petr grew up in the underground church and benefited from financial help and Bibles smuggled in to his family.

As an adult living in the free Czech Republic, Petr chose to begin serving persecuted Christians - especially in Islamist hotspots in Africa and the Middle East. In 2015, he was arrested in Sudan, convicted as a war criminal, and sentenced to life in prison, where he was forced to share a group cell with ISIS terrorists.

The true story of what God did in and through Petr has already inspired tens of thousands around the world. Now, for the first time, Petr tells the whole story.

Humbled

God requires great suffering from some of his people while we in the west live in ease. How often we fail to remember the prisoners as if in prison with them. A wonderful story of the grace of God in great difficulty!

Good story, but too much preaching

It was very interesting, however it would have been even better if there was less preaching and more description of the prisons and people in the story.
I think this book was more about trying to get people to convert to Christianity and join the Voice of the Martyrs mission than it was about his story of being captive and imprisoned with members of ISIS.
The author was so caught up in what "he did" to convert people to Christianity, it ruined the story! The story started off great, but the farther I got, the more preaching I heard.
Now, I'm a Christian and I want others to be one, too, but that's not why I was listening to this story. I wanted to hear a story, not a sermon (or 5)!

The narrator did a good job of telling the story, but he could have been even better.

Riveting account of Petr's 14 months in Sudanese prison. This account will encourage and inspire as he shares how the Lord worked in and through him during this time.

what a great witness and what a blessing this story was to me. I thank God and pray for others held in captivity for sharing God's word.

Encouraging and amazing story

I loved hearing Petr’s amazing account of his imprisonment and gaining of a deeper understanding of Jesus and what persecution means for the believer. It gives me encouragement that, if I am ever called upon to suffer for Christ, there is a peace and joy that passes all understanding and a relationship with our Lord that only those who pass through that valley can comprehend.

Thank you for telling of His faithfulness even in suffering.

He suffered as few in the west ever will

A remarkable story of one innocent man’s story of unimaginable hardship and the faithfulness of God. I felt almost as if I was with him in those prisons: enduring the abuse of the ISIS inmates, being lied to by guards and abused for the slightest infractions, but sharing the gospel of hope whenever opportunity came. Truly inspiring and a revealing look at how God works and uses the worst situations to draw people to him.

Amazing

An amazing testimony of one man's struggle against Satanic attack at the hands of Islamists and Sudan. Inspirational how he loved his enemies and found his calling to serve others while he suffered.
