While the threat of complete destruction darkened the skies, Irvin struggled below. Minute by minute, he strove to come to terms with his loss of identity and feelings of isolation. Udo's biggest problem isn't being a digger (that's low class), or staying drunk (that's damn expensive), or avoiding the Dwergaz (they're monsters), or even pissing off the supposed Gods. It's that his reality...well, it isn't what he thought. And now, he can't even afford to drink because his so-called friend Nicz is cutting into his business, digging up tin, iron, and copper. So Udo forms a new plan: clay. After all, clay jars are used to store everything: meat, herbs, and, his personal favorite, ale.

Story
Science fiction allows us to go places we can only dream of seeing - other worlds, distant stars, entirely different galaxies. While not every story is concerned with the hard science behind space travel and other futuristic ventures, fiction can give us amazing insight into what we could be capable of and what we dream of doing. In these 10 lectures, Professor Erin Macdonald interweaves real science and the achievements of the imagination to reveal the truth that underlies our favorite stories and sheds light on what the future may hold.

Fantastic!
This is not my usual type of book, but it was a fantastic read!
A lovely twist on both scifi and history in one sitting.
Only thing i can note on was that the sway from comedy to action
could have been smoother but a part from that its a full score!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

enjoyable story and performance
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Now! With that out of the way, I'm glad I had the chance to listen to this book. TJ Clark provides a great narration and M W Davis a fun and quite funny ride through time. At first, I was pretty worried this book would fall into the same trap most scifi stories fall into when bringing religion into the mix. Such a thing is a common pitfall seen in lots of scifi (heck, even the more recent BSG fell into this). That said, this story was thoroughly enjoyable partly because it doesn't take itself too seriously and definitely doesn't fall into the trap mentioned above (I mean come on, Zombie Jesus? ha!). I honestly kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and the author to start beating me over the head with religion.. I'm glad I was left disappointed, quite a refreshing experience. As for the time travel, it is certainly a unique idea and the references to other works really had me nerding out and enjoying this story even more than I thought possible. Thank you M W Davis and TJ Clark for a fun romp through time, I'll be sure to look for more of your work in the future.

All around fun book!
This is possibly the funniest book I ever listened too. I can't believe this is M.W. Davis's first novel. His influences are clear (Monty Python, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Back to the Future, to name a few) but his voice still comes through clear. And TJ Clark's narration fits it all perfectly with fun and unique character voices throughout. Don't miss this one! I am definitely keeping my eyes peeled for a sequel.

Imposter Messiah is a delight - listen to this now
This is my favorite listen for 2019, so far. It is only May, but I really enjoyed this book.
I don't want to spoil anything for you so I am having a hard time writing a review.
Honestly if you have made it this far to read my little review I can just tell you to give it a listen, you won't be let down.
We all know that a narrator can make or break a book, well I am happy to say that the narration is spot on and really adds to the experience.i

Accents + Time Agents = Fun!
Interesting concept and a great narration by TJ Clark. Fun and play with accents and a philosophical question: Sometimes you have to endure the bad so as to avoid the worse alternative. Will draw you in right from the first two words, which I won't spoil here.

I could not put it down and had to keep listening to find out what happens next. Amazing first work for the Author that when combined with the Excellent narration brings you into this world. Meh
The voices are pretty bad. The writing feels empty and weak.
Those sort of things don’t ever really bother me at all. But it made me cringe a lot and just, meh.
But I like time travel stories
