Acerca de esta escucha
Through understanding comes respect and love
This book was inspired by the author's daughter, Jaimie, who struggles with sensory processing disorder (SPD) every day. It was written to validate Jaimie's feelings and to show her other children feel things the way she does.
This book can help children with SPD learn how to explain their disorder to others; help peers understand what children with SPD go through; and also help therapists, teachers, and/or counselors learn how to talk about it.
Helping others learn about children with special needs brings understanding to them and helps to make them seem less...different.
New second edition includes suggested activities teachers or caregivers can do with children to help develop a deeper understanding of how SPD "feels", plus new information on vestibular and proprioception systems.

According to Mencap, there are approximately 351,000 children in the UK with a learning disability. In the US, 17 percent of children have delays in physical, learning, language, or behavior development. It doesn’t stop there. Worldwide, there are around 18.5 million people with speech, voice, or language disorders! If you yourself don’t have or never have had a speech and language delay or disorder, it’s nearly impossible to understand what your little one is going through.

Sensory processing disorder (SPD) is a medical condition which affects how your brain processes sensory information, or stimuli. Sensory information includes things you can touch, hear, taste, or smell. SPD can affect all of your senses, just one of your senses, or somewhere in between. In Parenting the SPD Child: Strategies for Helping Your Child With Sensory Processing Disorder, we will cover a lot of ground. We will start by looking at exactly what SPD looks like in children.

A storybook about special needs siblings to engage the whole family! My daughter, Jordhan, has the unique position of not only being a middle child, but a middle child among siblings with special needs. This story touches on the important contributions Jordhan makes to our family, especially on the days when she doesn’t think so. We need more stories for siblings of special needs children. This is my gift to each of them to show how much we appreciate their very important role in the family.

Hardcore Self Help: F**k Depression is the follow-up to the best-selling F**K Anxiety. In this book I take the information, tips, and insights that I have gained as a psychologist and translate them into language that doesn't suck. This is the self-help book for people who don't usually like self-help books. In Hardcore Self Help: F**K Depression, I talk to you like a friend. That means I speak directly to you, without psychobabble. Instead I tell you why your brain is such a troll.

While there are no bad kids, more often than not, there are also no bad parents. Where parents tend to go wrong lies in their discipline methods. Poor behavior from kids can drive any parent crazy, but reacting based on emotions can be the worst foundation for discipline. So why not try a different approach?

We can not raise a happy child if we are constantly screaming threats at them. No parent sets out to hurt their child, but this type of parenting does just that. To raise a happy child that wants to behave, you need to retrain yourself first. You need to change the way you think and react to their behavior. You need to understand your triggers and heal yourself. Only then you can begin to heal your relationship with your children.
