Publisher's summary

Life in 1925 Atlanta, Georgia, makes Truck realize three things:

He must demand respect …

Be uncompromising in the protection of his family …

And see Josephine for who she really is …

When his family is faced with losing everything, Truck embarks on a path from which there is no turning back. Ignite is a complicated tale of passion and unconditional love while navigating the Jim Crow South.

Amazing

Joan Vassar has done it again. Joan is an architect of weaving both fiction and history together giving you vivid stories that captures your heart. Ignite is novel, full of suspense, intrigue, humor, and love. The lively characters Truck, Corn and Josie are working towards self discovery as they maneuver through the Jim Crow south. With their journey come hurt, danger and betrayal. A great read by an amazing author.

The narration by JD Jackson brings each character to life. With his narration you become friends the each character as the story unfolds.

JV does it again

I was never a huge fan of historical fiction until I started reading books but Joan Vassar. she's a fantastic story teller. I love the character development and how you get to know all the characters. The Black series is still my favorite but I enjoyed this as well. The narration was perfect!

Adventurous Historical Fiction

I loved, loved, loved this book. Josie and Truck's love story is so beautiful.

Truck is tired of being thought of as weak, so he makes some decisions that will change his life. This book is set in rural Georgia during Jim Crow. I was so nervous that some racist violence was going to happen, but there was none of that in this book, only some references to other incidents. There adventures had me on pins and needles, but that tension kept me listening until the end.

Highly recommend if you love adventurous historical fiction and a beautiful love story. This is my first book by the author, but definitely won't be the last.

JD is my favorite narrator, so that was just icing on the cake.

It kept me in suspense.

I liked the interactions of the characters. I wished we were privy to know how Corn’s life turned out. I hope Truck and Josie have a family. I enjoyed the story.
