Up to 40% of people consider themselves shy. You might say you're introverted or awkward, or that you're fine around friends but just can't speak up in a meeting or at a party. Maybe you're usually confident but have recently moved or started a new job, only to feel isolated and unsure. If you get nervous in social situations - meeting your partner's friends, public speaking, standing awkwardly in the elevator with your boss - you've probably been told, "Just be yourself!" But that's easier said than done - especially if you're prone to social anxiety.

People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

A Truly Moving Story of Selective Mutism
I was intrigued by the title of this book, as I had no previous knowledge of mutism in any form. How enlightening! As a tutor and instructor myself, I had not heard much about this manifestation of the monstrous beast that is anxiety. Daniela's life experience has truly enriched my own. I'm sure it will make me more sensitive to my own students.
Daniela herself gives voice to her story. How incredibly courageous to not only write your story but to speak it out loud as well. She has made herself vulnerable and open to the world, and I applaud her fortitude!
It is a beautiful thing to see how the scriptures have transformed a person's life. God's word truly is alive and has power. While Daniela shares how various scriptures have helped her, I believe even nonreligious listeners will enjoy her story. Well done, Daniela!

A Must Read to Learn About Anxiety Disorder!
This is a great book to read if you want to learn or know of someone who is struggling with an anxiety disorder or selective mutism (SM). Children with SM are often misunderstood and feel isolated. The author explained her experiences at different stages of life and how she overcame them. She suggested some coping mechanisms that she used until she was able to eventually grow out of it and be part of society without feeling isolated. Her involvement with the church and her faith in God provided her the strength to not only endure but thrive in the face of adversity related to this disorder.

Captivating and Immersive!
This audiobook is so well produced and written. As Daniela read the story, I felt as though I was experiencing what it was like to have selective mutism, and gave me a greater capacity for empathy. The amount of detail and memories she recalled pulled me in and made me feel like I was on the journey of struggle with her. I especially loved the testimony of how she overcame through both her reliance on God and the practical ways she learned to continue her personal growth regardless of her condition. Amazing!

Great Understanding of SM & Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety disorder and selective mutism can be absolutely crippling. I applaud Daniela for sharing her story, starting from kindergarten through adulthood, and explaining her decades long journey and how she coped and survived. Even greater, not only does she detail her life experience, but she also conveys her learning and how others can similarly manage, and even overcome SM themselves. Thank you for opening up so selflessly and sharing to all.

Story
For many women, having a baby girl is a dream come true. But as girls grow up, the narrative of innocence and joy changes to one of dread as moms are told, "Just wait until she's a teenager!" Author, blogger, and mom to four daughters Kari Kampakis thinks it's time to change the narrative that leads moms to parent teen girls with a spirit of defeat instead of strength. Love Her Well isn't a guide to help mothers "fix" their daughters or make them behave. It's about a mom's journey, doing the heart-work necessary to love a teenager while still being a steady, supportive parent.
