Some ghosts refuse to stay buried....

Prophet and Tom have been through the wringer more times than they can count, both as partners in the field and in life. Yet despite it all, they’ve built something great together. But now they need to protect it again: Prophet’s old nemesis, John Morse, is back and threatening everything he loves.

Prophet is driven enough to take John down alone, and with a chance to do exactly that on the table, he runs with it, risking himself in the process. But trusting Tom to help him is so much more than mission critical.

It’s the final stand, and with Tom and his team behind him, Prophet’s in for the fight of his life. Then a figure from his past goes missing, and the consequence of an old mission rears its head. As complications and destruction mount all around them, getting out alive becomes the most important mission of their lives.

Jam packed

I'm not gonna lie, having a different narrator for this book was a tad frustrating. I noticed the change and missed Tom's strong accent, but over all the change was subtle. I liked Mal's Boston accent though so I guess there was a trade off.

This is the conclusion of Proph and Tom's journey down the John rabbit hole. It's also the start of a few other side character's stories. This book boarders on being too jammed packed with actions. Almost to the point of getting confusing. There are just so many things going on. Especially in the last half of the book. It also seems longer than it is and that's totally fine with me. It sucks you in and leaves you wanting more. It's a busy book with a lot going on with other characters. SE Jakes hasn't, however, released another book in awhile though and has fallen off her social media. When or If there will be another book remains to be seen but I'll be there to snap it up if she decides to write again. She is so talented and knows how to keep you on your toes.

Great story. Great narration

So much much blood, sex, and violence. My demented little soul is feeling quite satisfied.

I didn't really like the path of this story the first time that I read it, but the audio book changed my mind. Either the narrator helped clear up an confusing spots or I just needed a second read. Either way, I really enjoyed the end, and I hope we still get a few glimpses of Tom and Prophet in other books

worth the long wait

This is a book 4 in the series and you do need to read these in order. This one takes up after their last and you really need to have read it to understand what's going on. I also suggest if it has been a long time since you have read at least the last book to refresh yourself. I got lost at times since it had been a long time.
This goes back to Prophet and Tom and John is back after Prophet. Prophet has to take down John to end all the problems but can he take down his former best friend and lover. Tom is determined to help him do whatever it takes to stop the nightmares and help them get on with their lives.
This story is full of hot, interesting characters, lots of bad boys and who do you trust? There is a lot going on and you have to really follow the story to keep up. I really love this series and hope there is more, perhaps Cillian and Mal? There is so many twists and turns and just when you think you know somebody there is a twist to make you gasp. You won't want to quit once you start this!
Warning: There are scenes of torture and violence.
Mark Larchmont does a pretty good narration. He doesn't go overboard on giving every character vices but enough you can keep up with who is who. I do like the accents on Cillian. The pacing is good and he keeps you absorbed in the action.

Great end to a great series

This was a fun series to read and listen to from start to finish. Mark Larchmont did a fantastic job narrating, which says a lot since I really enjoyed the narration of Adam North for the other books in the series. I loved this one just as much!

Narrator Change??? WTF

First let me say I've enjoyed this series and Adam North did such a great job of bringing both MC's to life that it's really made it difficult to transition to a new narrator. Something (possibly ALL their traits and idiosyncrasies) get lost in translation which saddens me. What happened to Tom's Cajun accent? Oh God and don't get me started on Killian's (pronounced that way in first 3 books) now it Cillian(s). His accents verge on...JUST NO! This whole book feels different, the characters are the same... but not, if that makes any sense. At this time I really want to quit listening and maybe just read it which is what I did and was completely satisfied with the outcome. The 4th book in this series is subpar in the narrator's ability, just a big NO on M. Larchmont's narration.
The thing I liked most about theses books is that SE Jakes can write and capture 'man talk and their feelings' to a tee. ie. somewhat confusing and don't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. Most times I was left scratching my head and saying to myself 'what the hell just happened here'? As I said she writes in perfect manspeak. Bottom line, go back to printed version for book 4. Really great book, great READ, there's just too much lost with switching the narrator. I generally like Tim Paige ie. Mark Larchmont , not so much this time around.

Finally!

I was really happy with the story over all. I really liked Mark Larchmont's narration but I wish it was Adam North.

Disappointed

I love Prophet and Tom together and I was looking forward to the release of this book. My first disappointment was a different narrator. Adam North brought the characters to life; and Mr. Larchmont’s narration was painful to listen too. Secondly, the team had been chasing John for 10 years but never thought of turning the table to have John chase Prophet in order to draw him out. Really?? The final meeting between Prophet and John was anticlimactic as well. The story felt rushed which was surprising since If I Ever was released 5 years after Daylight Again. I enjoyed books 1-3 and listened to the audiobooks several times. Although I was disappointed in this book I recommend audiobooks 1-3 but read book 4.

should not have changed narrators

The narrator of the of the first three books gave the characters a very distinct and enjoyable set of voices. to change narrator at this stage of a series is criminally disappointing .
