Publisher's Summary

If you knew love would hurt you, would you fall? If you knew love would leave you, would you let it go? If you knew love could never be, would you try? From best-selling author Randi Cooley Wilson comes a love story about heartbreak, second chances, and letting go. The ifs that linger in this novel will break your heart and stay with you long after the final chapter.

Emerson Shaw thought she’d left her old life behind her, but when she returns home for her best friend’s wedding, she has no idea her past is waiting to reclaim her.

Lincoln Daniels never wanted to find love. But when he met straight-laced Emerson, he fell. Hard. The only thing they seemed to have in common was an undeniable mutual attraction, but from the moment he laid eyes on her, there was something about her that called to him. Until he lost her.

Just when Emerson is finally ready to let go and stop existing in a past full of pain and regret, Lincoln returns, turning her life upside down. What begins as a tentative friendship quickly escalates, and the two soon realize that all the ifs lingering between them no longer matter.

What happens when two broken people meet, fall in love, and realize they can never be? What happens when all the what ifs no longer make sense? If you knew your heart would break, would you still fall?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

What if? Friends to Lovers and Second Chances!

My first time reading this authors work and I definitely enjoyed it. I liked the plot and loved Lincoln!! This book is told from Emerson’s point of view and Grace Grant did a good job with the narration. Be prepared, you only get to hear Christian Fox in the epilogue when he speaks on Lincoln’s point of view. That was the only thing that I didn’t like. I originally purchased the audiobook because I love Christian Fox and was expecting dual POV but nevertheless, I still devoured this audiobook and would recommend to readers who love a second chance romance.

AHHHH YESS!!! LOVED IT 🤩

If I thought my soul was shattered reading the ebook. It was completely crushed listening to this audio. Such an emotional journey for both characters and these narrators brought it to life perfectly! ♥️

Bit of a bait and switch

So I feel like I was a little duped here.

First, Grace narrators the entire book save for the very last chapter. Cool but a true waste of Zach/Christian. Also it means you only get Emerson's POV.

Second, the book takes place almost entirely in the past. This is not one that flips back and forth between past and present giving you a sense of where the characters came from and where they are now. No, it is mostly a story of an on again, off again college romance. That's cool, it just isn't what I thought I was getting.

Not entirely sure I would have bought this one if I had known all the facts. I finished it but I would be lying if I didn't admit that I kinda kept going hoping to finally hear a chapter from Lincoln. I would have appreciated his POV and that sexy voice.

Very Angst story!

A very angst book! I really can’t say romance I felt more like lust to me. The narrators are amazing they truly brought the story to life. I will say the story was interesting totally different than I expected. Why only 3 stars well unfortunately with all the cheating going on I couldn’t see how either heroine or hero could be in love with each other. Plus I wanted to know them more. 3/5 stars

Beautiful Story!

This was my first Randi Cooley Wilson's book, and won't be my last. I love the cover! This is a great Second chance to love. The story is beautifully written. Emerson and Lincoln are great characters, and they share an instant attraction, and a sizzling chemistry. Their story is heartbreaking, and heartwarming. I love the ending. Besides the last chapter, the story is only told with Emerson’s POV. I would love to have Lincoln's POV. I love Grace Grant’s voice. She did an amazing job with the narration. Zach Villa is a new narrator to me. He has a really great voice, but he only read the Epilogue. I'm looking forward for more books written by this author and read by the narrators.

If

I am a huge fan of Randi Cooley Wilson's literary works of art . I'm a paranormal romance type girl, but I had gotten lost in the story of Emerson and Lincoln. I ran the gambit of emotions as their story unfolded before me. When I came to the end of the book, I was sad that the ride was over. I wanted more of Emerson and Lincoln's story.

♡ ♡ The "ifs" will drive ya crazy ♡ ♡

I fell in love with this stunning cover before I even read a single word in the synopsis. I knew I'd read or listen to this book just by the cover. I'm seriously a cover-lover and will often read a book solely based upon its looks... very superficial of me, I know. So if definitely feels like a new adult novel. Lincoln and Emerson have this immediate click when their eyes land on each other during a party. Not only do they like what they see but they like what's in the other as well. There was so many good things in this book... so many catchy phrases and quotes that tugged at my heart. Some might struggle with the cheating aspects throughout but they are in their first year of college... what better time to make mistakes? I'm not forgiving the cheating but I can see the reasoning.

if had the potential to be an amazing story. My main reasoning behind star removals is I had a bit of a hard time connecting with the main characters. I don't feel like I really knew them and felt their excuses for not being together were insignificant. I wish Emerson was a stronger female lead. She was weak and took whatever she could get from Lincoln. The writing was fabulous, and like I said earlier, there were some real emotional one-liners. I just wish there was a bit more substance... more meat to chew on.

The narration done by Zach Villa and Grace Grant was great! These narrators added so much more feelings and emotion to the story. The audiobook is more than the book could have ever been with Miss Grant and Mr. Villa. They pulled and added emotions that I wasn't even sure the characters excluded themselves. This is one of those books where you must listen instead of reading!!
