Once again there's good news for those of us who rage at the evening news, shake our heads at Washington's business-as-usual, or watch as politicians carom helplessly between political crises and sex scandals: Dennis Miller is back with his third installment of hilarious observations, I Rant, Therefore I Am.

Dennis Miller first gained national acclaim as the wise-guy anchor of "Weekend Update" on "Saturday Night Live." When HBO premiered his weekly talk show in April 1994, both critics and fans enthusiastically agreed: "Dennis Miller Live" was the most refreshing talk show on television.

The accolades have continued to pour in. In September 1994, Dennis and his staff won an Emmy Award for writing and have been regularly nominated since. When he takes the stage, the audience demands, "The rants, the rants, the rants," and once again, Dennis Miller delivers the goods. Fans of his smart, quirky, irreverent style of humor are in for another treat-this set of rants is even funnier than the last two rounds.

Dennis Miller keeps on ranting in I Rant, Therefore I Am, and speaks his mind on topics like:

MODELS-"How ironic that the most exquisite-looking people in the world should end up choosing the profession that requires them to spend all day by the phone waiting for the most hideous people to call them."

COLLEGE-"I don't think you should have to pay back college loans unless you get a job in your field. Put some pressure on the school. If I can't pay my bills, I'm not paying yours."

CONSUMERS-"You know how to tell when you've got a shopping problem? When the lights in the department store momentarily dim after they slide your credit card through the thing."

FAITH-"I envy people who can just let go and totally commit. I, on the other hand, can't even hear the title of the show 'Touched by an Angel' without thinking that a professional baseball player is being sued for sexual harassment."

ASTRONAUTS-"Anybody who would strap themselves onto a giant deodorant spray can, set off a series of explosions under their ass until they've been blasted into the icy vacuum of deep space, and then step outside to take a walk must have more balls than a twenty-four-hour Tokyo driving range."© and (P)2000 Dennis Miller

This is a must hear! You'll love Miller's insight - no matter which side of the political isle you're on. Get it, listen to it and laugh!

BRILLIANT - FUNNY - FABULOUS!

I enjoyed this. A little obsessed with Bill Gates for some reason. "F" bombs sometimes seem unnecessary and out of place

A good laugh - smart stuff

I've listened to 4 of Dennis Miller's audio books & enjoyed them all. This one, however, is the best of the bunch.

Best of Miller

Funny, clever and witty, though at times Miller could be a little too witty for his own good. Even still, I enjoyed this listen, Miller does a great job in narrating his own material, making it just like one of his stand-up gigs, and overall, if you're a fan of comedy then this would audio book would be perfect for you.

Cleverly funny

Not everyone likes Dennis Miller, but then again not everybody understands much of what comes out of his mouth, as if you need a Masters Degree in arcane literature. For example, he makes reference to "Fitzcuraldo the boat over the mountain" (spelling?). Nevertheless, his piercing wit is sidesplitting and the rants are especially so because these are the creme of his loquatious crop. Buy it, you'll like it.

For sophisticated tastes only

Dennis Miller has always tickled my funny bone. Regardless if you agree with his political or social positions, you have to laugh at the way he presents his unique brand of sarcasm. Some people simply don't get his humor, but he is truly one of the sarcasm comedy masters of our time.

Original

Dennis Miller has lost touch and this book must been the beginning of his downfall. Its simply not funny. I was hoping for a couple of laughs and got maybe 3; I was looking for insights and got none. Don't waste your time. There's a reason he's not on TV anymore; he has nothing original to say.

Miller's act is as thin as his hair

I was a regular watcher of Dennis' show over the years and came to look forward to his rants. For me, however, it's different listening to them back-to-back-to-back. For the most part, each rant is funny. Several taken collectively during a commute is just too much. I got bored listening to them.

Too many rants...

Although the content is fairly witty, the book is read in a completely unengaging way. I kept thinking it would be a funny book to read, but listening to it was at times painful. The tone is flat but not deadpan; it is clear the material is being READ, not performed (which a comedy book must be in order to be effective). I thought it was a waste of money

I rant, Therefor I Am

Miller, the "smart" comedian who alludes, to the astonishment of another reviewer, to Werner Herzog, appeals to the same self-satisfied Thinking People who gather by his friend and fellow NFL commentator Rush Limbaugh's side. At least Miller has stopped trying to make his rants seem unpolitical--two stars for honesty.

The schtick has worn thin
