In this Pride and Prejudice variation, Darcy's parents pass away earlier than canon and his upbringing is supervised by his slightly disreputable uncle, the Earl of Matlock. Elizabeth and Jane Bennet meet the new tenant of Netherfield when they are involved in an accident. Lizzy couldn't care less about the haughty Mr Darcy: she's more interested in the new physician in town, Dr Gregory. Nor is the very experienced Mr Darcy about to fall for a country chit; but as the local fauna, and her arts and allurements conspire against him, he makes a grave miscalculation. Humor/Angst. Hunsford fork. This story is suitable for mature readers. "Wow. What a thoroughly fun read this was! I just finished a near binge-read of Via Luton and it is simply exquisite. All the P&P spirit is here and the characters are beautifully drawn. Finally a way for Elizabeth's fine mind and caring sensibilities to shine - through medicine and caring for wounded soldiers. It also serves to improve her sisters by giving them direction and purpose. I liked that Elizabeth had her "cold-feet" moment - brave as she is - and was able to reconcile her fears. A naughty Darcy reforms

I enjoyed the extended courtship, as Elizabeth refuses to accept Darcy’s bad behavior. The Bennet family is much more loving than in other variations, but there’s still plenty of humor. Lydia acts more like a child than a whiny teenager, providing much comic relief

Mr Darcy is unrecognizable

Unlike the self-disciplined Mr Darcy of P&P, this Mr Darcy has only one thing on his mind. It got to be kind of disgusting.
