Okay characters, zero plot

Michael Dean’s narration for this series is always good, but as far as the plot goes, this is easily the weakest book in the entire Chosen One universe. Absolutely nothing happens in the overall series story, and very, very little in the lives of the two incredibly minor side characters who center this particular book.

Roan has almost no personality (particularly since he’s absent for half of the book; don’t worry, though, you’ll barely notice he’s gone). Zachary may as well be gone, too; he’s a pale copy of bits and pieces from other characters’ personalities. Oh, and then there’s his deranged “best friend,” who is on page for a single shopping trip, then pops in to commit armed assault for *absolutely no reason,* then completely disappears, never to be heard from again.

As far as I can tell, the only reason this book even exists is to (sort of? VERY weakly?) introduce Ollie’s love interest for the next book, but it’s done so incredibly lamely that I really wish I’d just waited & skipped to the next book.

If you’re at all on the fence, maybe give this one a pass.

Love this series

I love every book/audio of this series and all related series. Listen to them often. I hope we don’t have to leave this world anytime soon.
The next can’t come soon enough.

Loved it!

The storyline was fun and the characters were adorable. I can’t wait for the next one.

Meh

I’ve read all of the chosen series multiple times and have almost all on audible. This story didn’t really add to the overall Chosen world. It would have been better as a short holiday story for these side characters. The author hints towards the end of the story that the human MC may have some magical gifts, but the story doesn’t go anywhere with it. It would have been better if it had been discovered about halfway through the story and if he could actually use that ability in the story. I imagine it’s difficult to write about these characters that are in the middle of the story arc. The author would have to be careful not to write anything that would alter the overall timeline or continuity.

Wonderful book

I love this book. I would recommend for everybody to listen. The narrator was great. The author is wonderful. I have the complete series. Can’t wait for the next book.

Love the Chosen Universe books

Macy does it again! Another fantastic book in her Chosen Universe. This time we get a forest spirit and his “human” mate, more of Nick and his pack, a couple more of the children find their new parents as well! Next up can’t wait for Ollie’s story!

The story continues with twists and turns

This Magical Mates series, linked to the Chosen Universe, are great books to read and listen. New characters are introduced such as Zachary and Roan. Zachary learns quickly there are so many more things to his world than he thought. And even Roan is surprised by all there is. Ofcourse we revisit Nick and all the special children and so many of the characters, various humans, shifters, fae , vampires and so much more creatures we met earlier on. And ofcourse Zachary and Roan find their hfn/ hea.
Michael Dean is always a pleasure to listen to when he brings that bit that makes it a great listen to an already wondwerful book.
