Uncanny insight...

Diane Goodall
I love this story.
It has given me a desire to treat others with a grace and respect beyond my previous understanding. What the characters said was very engaging. The author also made me aware of the importance of what the individuals refrained from saying or doing.
I thank the author for her inspired ability to teach while rendering an entertaining and beautifully written book. You will be better for having read it.

Fantastic listening experience

It was great to see that a recommendation to Audible resulted in this story's addition to the Audible collection. This is a beautiful book which is, on the one hand, a meditation on faith and the clash of cultures, and on the other, a suspenseful and a painful testament to history whereby a First Nations people tries to hold on to the old ways in the face of the inevitable advancement of modern life and culture.

I remember while driving home from a family vacation hanging on to every word as the story reached its conclusion. My hope being that we wouldn't reach our destination before the story ended. I highly recommend this book with its terrific narration. It draws you into the world and characters with compassion and simplicity.

Beautiful

I grew up in the 60's and 70's along the Canadian border, and at the time there was a sort of deep appreciation of folk music and rural ethics. It is hard to articulate the subtleties of that era, but this book captures it beautifully. There is something so subtle and SO moving about this book. The narrator's performance is magical. I cried listening to this book.
