I had zero idea what I was getting into with this book. I added it after seeing/hearing something about the title at work and downloaded it, forgot about it and then listened to it. I should not have waited. This book of short stories was a solid listen.

I had not heard of Harlan Ellison before this.

the same reason I will not buy a brave New world on audible I've heard at the very least I have no mouth and I must scream being narrated by the original author I thought the original was a far better edition not to say that this narrator was bad by any means but they're simply something lost when you compared to each other

Great stories from an accomplished Sci-Fi writer. I only wish they had all been read by the author, his narration was much better than Luis Moreno’s.

Classic Sci Fi from a Master

So why 3 stars? Because each tale has a preamble by Harlan Ellison which is NOT separated into its own chapter. These preambles may or may not interest the reader (personally I just wanted to hear the stories) and all these being in the same chapters as the stories they introduce, with varying lengths of 2 - 5 minutes, means blindly skipping ahead for a bit to get to the story. For every story.

The narrator, Luis Moreno, has a rich tone and put in a great performance.

Great stories, great narration. Poor format.

This is a collection without equal, written by a man who was truly one of a kind! This is a man who has a lot to say and came up with some of the most beautifully written and insanely imaginative ways to say it!

I know people like to throw words like masterpiece and classic around like there’s no tomorrow. But if anyone has a legitimate claim to have written the most in those categories of all time… it could be Harlan
