Sexy Athlete: I bet you...

Penelope Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback.

The late night text is random, but Penelope figures out exactly who “Sexy Athlete” is. And why she shouldn't take his wager.

Ryker Voss. Football star. Walks on water and God's gift to women. Just ask him. His crazy bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the guy she’s been crushing on. His plan - good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he'll realize what he's missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is...why is Ryker being so nice to her?

Penelope Graham. Virgin. Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus. His mortal enemy. Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a cocky jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs help getting a date? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that will destroy Penelope’s heart forever.

Will the quarterback score the good girl, or will his secrets mean everyone loses this game of love? This is a full-length stand-alone sports romance with a swoony, heartfelt HEA. You do not have to have listen to I Dare You first.

4 Baby llama STARS

Such a cute and fun story! The hero may come off as arrogant but he is secretly such a sweet guy. The heroine is feisty, smart and you will be rooting for her throughout the book. The side characters, including the bird are great. The epilogue had me laughing at loud. Ryker is such an amazing book boyfriend.

Narration was great.

Popular author but new to me

My book babe said this is a must author and so here I listned and while I have no complaind it was a good story, it may be that college romance isn't for me.

I'll definetly check this author again this was a sort of not so liked acquaintance to lovers book where they crossed paths but didn't hold a friendship till the Hero decided to help the heroine with a crush, that's as all the spoiler I'll give.

Poor narrators can ruin a book I loved when read

I can honestly say that every book Ilsa Madden-Mills has written that I have read first, I have absolutely loved. I made the mistake of not reading Not My Romeo first and just going straight to listening. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. I could not have despised the heroine more. I guess reading her books first, I have the chance to love the H/h at my reading pace and hear their voices in my head in a tone that is pleasing to me. Had I listened to this book first I would have DNFd as well. A poor narrator can truly ruin a book. Not only did it have me intensely disliking the heroine since she sounded perturbed ALL THE TIME but I think Stella Bloom is a little over the age limit for a college student, the same goes for Mason Lloyd. I'm not sure if Ilsa had any say in who was chosen, if she did, I guess this is how she hears them in her head? I would not want a shrill shrew yammering at me all day that's for sure.

If anyone decides to give up on this audio book because of the narrators, I dont blame you. But don't give up on the book. Read it instead. This audio was even painful for me and I'm so glad I loved the story and characters first before this debacle.

I know I've listened to these narrators before and not had an issue when they were put with age appropriate characters. Mason is definitely suited for the 30+ age male. I've listened to him narrate multiple Nicole Snow books with no issues.

She has a parrot named Vampire Bill

The setting: Waylon University

The Hero(s): Ryker Voss - QB1 and the most handsome guy at the school. Ryker is always surrounded by Jersey Chasers. He had some trouble last year when his best friend on the team was fighting illegally and he didn’t tell anyone on the team. His friend was suspended for several games and Ryker was cleared but not until his name was dragged through the mud.

The heroine: Penelope Graham - she is a smart girl who studies in her free time and wants to someday be a romance novelist. She daydreams and writes historical romances and they always seem to star Ryker Voss. Her father was a football player and left her mother when she got pregnant, so Penelope will never date a football player

The Love Story: Ryker and his friends have bets going all the time and he makes a bet about Penelope. Penelope has a crush on a studious guy in one of her classes and Ryker tells her he will help her get a date with the guy.

I love Ilsa Madden-Mills books, they have plenty of steam and lots of humor. I am just getting in to audiobooks so I thought this would be a good one to listen to. I enjoyed the narration, though there was something about the inflection sometimes in the woman’s voice that made me dislike Penelope a bit. I am not sure if it was how she was reading certain lines or the actual words, but I suspect it was how she was reading it.

I guess I just got the impression that Penelope was a bit uppity from the way she said certain things. Though overall I really did like the narration and the story was great. I do like sports romances and I love it when the protagonist has an animal. This one was a parrot named Vampire Bill and Penelope was teaching him a new word every day. Overall this is rated 4.5 so I will give it 5 stars.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

I Bet You

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up this book, it’s a first for me by this author kind of, but I got it because of the narrators who are both amazing in this book.
I like how these two meet and how they become friends before anything else. It really was a great romance. These are the college/romance’s I like to listen to. Not too much drama but just enough to keep you engaged.
My favorite character is Penelope, she is just so uniquely herself and she doesn’t try to hide that. If you don’t like her then too bad for you. I love that. She isn’t rude or over the top she is just herself.
Ryker and his willingness get to know who Penelope is and even if he doesn’t like the same things she does he is still willing to see her point of view.
The ending really showed that….lmao that was the best ending.

Great pace and characters

I wish that there were more male points of view, but I did enjoy the story very much. The narrators did a great job! The series has gotten better and better, so I hope there's a fourth Waylon University Football story in the works.

Absolutely loved it!

I honestly had a hard time getting into it at the beginning. But then I fell in love with both characters. Penelope is a hoot. I love the way she carries herself. The narrator did a great job bringing Penelope to life.

Love this story

But the narrator was a poor fit. The female sounds like she is around 50 yrs old. I actually stopped listening after a few chapters bc her voice just ruined it for me.

College Romance of Opposites?

Ryker is the football quartback..he has an attraction to Penelope..but doesn’t handle it the best and when he knows he has truly fallen doesn’t know how to explain a bet that involved her.
Penelope is fun, quirky and intelligent...wanting to be a writer...untrusting of men, in particular Ryker. Her past leaves her very vulnerable.
This a fun sweet romantic college romance with wonderful narrators.
Lots of fun and entertaining...not overly different than many college/sports romances but well written and a nice easy listen!

Fab story

Loved the story and enjoyed the narration, but both narrators struggled with Archer’s accent! However, on the whole, enjoyed both their voices. Stella had a great voice for comedy - she had great timing.
