There's only one word to describe the devil's kiss. Violent.
There's only one word to describe a hunter who locks lips with the most revered, most feared, and most despicable demon to have ever existed. Traitor.
A hunter and the Devil. It's not just an unlikely pair. It's an impossible one. Add his two henchmen to the mix and there's only one word that spells. Disaster.
I am Melody Black. Daughter of the New York Guild's leader. Daughter of the best hunter to have ever existed. But daddy dearest is about to lose his title. He's conquered a lot, but the one thing he has never done is come face to face with Lucifer himself. Now, here I am, standing with the King of Demons, sword palmed, stance perfected.
There is only one thing left to do. Defeat him. There is only one feeling meant to be felt. Rage. Instead, desire rips through my body, and even though Lucifer doesn't touch me, I can feel him everywhere.
I am the hunter, but I am also the hunted. And it's not just Lucifer who has his dark eyes fixated on me.
Contains mature themes.

Let me paint you a picture: I started this book at 2am, in bed, cozy under my weighted blanket, expecting light demon-slaying shenanigans. By 3am, I was yelling “YOU FOOLS, THE GOAT-SKULL WAS A TRAP!” at my cat while holding a flashlight under my chin like I was in a campfire horror story.
The plot? A ragtag group of demon hunters with names like Vex, Thorn, and Greg (yes, just Greg) are battling a surge of darkness leaking into our world through something called the “Misery Gate.” Honestly, same. I, too, have a Misery Gate — it’s called Monday mornings.
There’s betrayal, shadow beasts with too many eyes, morally gray mentors who communicate only in riddles and the occasional slap, and a demon who’s obsessed with collecting 90s pop music cassette tapes. No, really. I would die for him.
The pacing? Like getting dragged through a haunted IKEA by a werewolf in a trench coat — confusing but thrilling.
The ending? I won’t spoil it, but let’s just say I threw my book (okay, Kindle) across the room and had to apologize to an elderly plant that got caught in the chaos.
Weirdest moment:
A demon named Trinkle gets banished using a mixtape, a cheese wheel, and the power of unresolved childhood trauma. Don’t ask. Just read it.
Final thoughts:
Would I recommend it? Yes, but only if you enjoy adrenaline, cryptic sarcasm, and having your sanity lightly gnawed on. Don’t expect closure. Do expect a talking raven who may or may not be God.

Horrible female lead

the guys absolutely had potential with their general character natures, but had real development.
pretty much a good story, a welcome change from the genre's tropes, but not great. so much potential lead to so much disappointment.
heroine whiny in a I'm too tough way
