Publisher's summary

The star of the Discovery Channel's River Monsters and author of the best-selling River Monsters shares a meditation on fishing - and life.

In his best-selling first book, Jeremy Wade, the star of the hit TV series River Monsters, memorably recounted his adventures on six continents in pursuit of fish of staggering proportions and terrifying demeanor. Now "the greatest angling explorer of his generation" (Independent on Sunday) returns to delight listeners with a book of an entirely different sort, the book he was always destined to write - the distillation of a life spent fishing. Thoughtful and funny, brimming with wisdom and above all, adventure, these are pitch-perfect reflections that anyone who has ever fished will identify with, for ultimately it touches on what fishing teaches us all about life.

A great book to learn from!!!

there is knowledge that he'll pretty much point out and knowledge he'll tell you from his experiences over the years. what I've seen from one persons review that they missed in this book is when they said there where no helpful tips. there are tons and they have helped solve some of my fishing problems. For example when he talked about how some fish could sense where the hook was, which has happened to me when a shark(not what I was targeting) was eating my bait but was not touching the part that had a large hook. the shark actively avoided my hook on every bait I casted out. As an average angler this book taught me things I really couldn't find anywhere else.

Zen, philosophy and fish tales. What more is there

A book on fishing it absolutely is. For those unfamiliar with the mechanics of fishing such as the importance of knots and and the inner workings of rods and reels some of this work may seem a bit tedious but in between these musings that are the Hallmark of a master of his profession are some wonderful tidbits of philosophy and life knowledge. This is Jeremy Wade in a purer form. Stories and reflections of a man who has successfully spent his life doing exactly what he loves. Listen just for that and perhaps gain a secret or two on how to live a life in the moment and how to live it well.

Needs an Additional Chapter

The stories are interesting, there is so much fishing knowledge in the book. A final chapter, or another book “Jeremy Wade To The Point” where he concisely focuses on how to catch fish would be great.

Resist the urge to skip work to fish...

I listened to this book while driving from Texas to Ohio. It had me stopping to fish the entire way! No monsters, YET, but soon! I enjoyed hearing a new take on the adventures I watch. Listening to the realness of the situations and how so many are similar to my own is amazing. It has really opened my eyes and given me a renewed sense of confidence in fishing. Right Bait, Right Time, Right Place. Very similar to what I am used to from the Army. The three Rs for success! Already can't wait to hit the water again. Tight lines everyone!
