If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

Story
Almost everyone feels stuck in some way. Whether you’re muddling through a crisis, wrestling writer’s block, trapped in a thankless job, or trying to remedy a friendship, the resulting emotion is a mix of anxiety, uncertainty, fear, anger, and numbness. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Break Free is the roadmap we all need to escape our inertia and flourish in the face of friction. Adam Alter has spent the past two decades studying how people become stuck and how they free themselves to thrive. Here he reveals the formula he and other researchers have uncovered.

Story
Melissa Dilkes Pateras is the most competent housekeeper, DIY-project master, and home repair genius that you’ve ever fantasized about becoming. When she followed her kids on to TikTok, she discovered a community hungry for her approachable, tongue-in-cheek advice on everything from balls—dryer balls, that is—to why color-coded closets are a spiritual experience. She doesn’t expect you to know what you were never taught, and she doesn’t care about transforming your home into a minimal, beige Instagram post; she simply wants to help make your life easier.

Beautiful and practical book
This book is well laid-out with beautiful pictures and practical tips for cleaning, decluttering, and organizing in order to simplify your life. I love the summaries and lists of action items at the end of each chapter. I also love the idea of zones as it helps break it down into more manageable chunks to avoid overwhelm. Overall, a great, thorough, helpful guide!

Practical approach for real humans
I appreciate that this book focuses on quality of life over technique. These are tips anyone can use to spend more time living life than cleaning up after it. Love it.

Easy Actionable Steps to a clean house
I highly recommend reading this book. This is an easy to read and straight to the point book. Tamara jumps in and gets right to the point. I love how this book gives the reader a solid foundation explaining the different layers to a clean house. Tamara tells the reader exactly what to do. She breaks everything down into easy, actionable steps. I love how she gives a list of things to do and things to remember at the end of each chapter.
