I'm the wrong guy for her. She's sunshine and cherry pie. I'm whiskey and fast cars. I'm also keeping one hell of a secret from the woman I've wanted for years. But when I find a list my sister left behind for Ruby, I've got no choice but to offer the sexy, big-hearted girl next door both a road trip and a chance. A chance to discover how big she can dream.

Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Life threw me a curveball. An adorable eight-pound, four-ounce curveball with her mother’s eyes and my dark hair. I’d like to think my single-dad game is strong, but honestly? I’ve been struggling a little. When a beautiful young woman moves in next door and offers to give me a hand, I jump at the chance to hire her as a nanny. Jessa is amazing with my daughter. She’s also patient, kind, and way too pretty.

I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother. Ever hear the story about the bodyguard who falls for the rock star? Yeah, it never ends well. Each day I remind myself that it's my job to protect Stone. And nowhere in the job description does it say I should lust after the charismatic, charming man. Especially since we're opposites. But every night I spend with him the dangerous, off-limits attraction grows more intense. Until one night in a limo when we combust. One time only will have to be enough. One scorching, forbidden night. Because the mistakes from the past are chasing me. And if I give in again, I'll lose everything.

My new assignment at work: Test out toys. Yup, that kind. Well, technically, it’s to test the app that controls the toys remotely. One problem? The showgirl who’s supposed to test the hardware (as in, the actual toys) joins a nunnery. Another problem? This project is important to my Russian boss, the broody, mouthwateringly sexy Vlad, a.k.a. the Impaler. There’s only one solution: Test both the software and the hardware myself...with his help.

I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom. It was an accident. Mostly.... At least I didn't take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count? One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail. But I couldn't stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends? Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends....

There are a few things you should know about my brother’s roommate. Wolfie Cox is complicated, and incredibly sexy. I’m good at hiding my feelings. Having to pretend I’m not in love with my best friend? Pfft. That’s child’s play. Here’s how I do it: I avert my eyes when he walks out of his room, shirtless in all his toned glory. I squash the butterflies that fill my stomach every time he slowly unfurls a dimpled smile. Not to brag, but Aiden Smith isn’t hard to resist if you’ve been doing it for as long as I have. In fact, we might have continued as best friends forever if not for the fact that I needed him to play the part of my fake boyfriend.

Publisher's Summary
A sexy stand-alone romance written by number one New York Times best-selling author Lauren Blakely and award-winning romance narrator Joe Arden!
Every man knows there are lines you don't cross. Like this one - don't bang your boss' little sister.
Too bad I didn't know sexy, clever, irresistible London is related to the guy who signs my paychecks. Would have been helpful to have that intel before I took her out on that first date, before I kissed her on the beach, before I made plans to take her home that night.
But now I know, and I'm going to be so damn disciplined. I'm a good guy, after all. And good guys don't break the golden rules of the bro code. I'm going to follow the heck out of all the rules. I won't break a single damn one.
Even when London asks me to help her with a work project. One that has us working late every night, all alone, in my tiny apartment.
One that tests every ounce of willpower I have. One that is driving me out of my ever loving mind. But I resist.
Until the night she issues a challenge I can't refuse.
The audiobook includes cameo appearances from Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, and Maxine Mitchell!

I was very curious about how this book was going to be since I love Lauren's work and this is Joe's first time writing. I gotta say I wasn't sure at first but as the book and the characters started to come to life I absolutely started to get the Lauren Blakely vibe but also I could feel the difference from her other books which is obviously where Joe comes in. In the beginning it felt light and fun but then it went into a little deep direction and sexy too! I didn't realize at first just how much Teddy's past was holding him back and had affected his future but really enjoyed seeing him overcome and move forward even with his fears still present. London was a great female lead, she was very forward and I loved that. I especially enjoyed the side characters in this book, from London's girlfriends who were so funny but also super supportive to her brother who was even more supportive. I loved the HEA and I all the epilogues, these authors didn't leave up wondering about anything! *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ I also have to say I seriously loved the extra's in this audiobook. The Q & A with Joe & Lauren was very eye opening and really felt very honest and the bloopers were hilarious!!!!! Listening to all the girls laughing had me cracking up. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Now lets talk about Joe's narration!!! I will be honest here and say before this book I have enjoyed Joe's narration but this book really was a huge leap in my opinion for his narration. I don't know if it was because he knew the story so well already or if he was just so proud of this book but it seriously showed in his narration. I think he shined in this book more than I have ever heard him before. He captured all the emotions, banter and fun perfectly. Great job!

Sparks are flying in this 5 star listen!
What I loved most about this book was the immediate spark between Teddy and London. The wonderfully sexy show build up of their friendship and right on into lovers was absolutely perfect! From their sense of humor to their love of dogs, you can't help but love Teddy and London. I really enjoyed how Lauren and Joe brought in more of London by using the text messages between her and her besties, Olive and Emory. Joe did a wonderful job bringing Teddy to life from the pages of the book. He gave us that sweet and super sexy good guy that Teddy was described to be. Erin, Emma & Maxine stole the show in their text message performances of London, Olive and Emory, especially in the extra outtakes. Reminded me of crazy conversations I've had with friends in the past. Please listen all the way to the end of the audiobook for an author interview and outtakes. The outtakes are NOT TO BE MISSED!

Amazing debut
Loved Joe's debut novel! The aspects I love from Lauren Blakely's books are found in this collaboration - mature characters, witty banter and organic conflict. The easter eggs from both Lauren Blakely's books and Joe's life were so fun to discover. You can hear how connected Joe is to Teddy in the narration. I hope to see more collabs from them in the future!

HOW TO GET LUCKY...Buy this book now
This book was fantastic. If I didn’t know that this was a book co-written by a first time author, I would have never been able to tell. This was truly a great romance put together perfectly. Teddy and London were just the cutest and most fun couple I’ve read in a long time. There was the perfect amount of fun flirty banter mixed with the growing emotions of a new relationship. Both of these characters wanted to do what was right but ultimately the heart will lead you down the path you are destined for. Loved the little glimpses of London’s friends during their text exchanges. I have loved Joe Arden the narrator for a while now. He’s one of my all time favorites. I can say now that he will be one of my favorite authors as well. He and Lauren couldn’t have written a better book, it’s that great. I truly hope he continues to write books, whether that’s with other authors or eventually solo. He will be a one-click for me from now on. Congratulations Joe on your first (of many I hope) books. It was so much fun to listen to Joe narrate his own words. You can almost feel the excitement through his narration. Add in Erin, Emma and Maxine...this is really audio gold. Couldn't love this book more.

Gah! This was the BEST!
There was so much hype and build up to this book as the first book co-written by Joe Arden and Lauren Blakey and the bar was set very high. I am thrilled to honestly say that it was everything I expected and so much more! You could say that the story of London and Teddy was insta-love, but the character development, the descriptive scenes, the detailed timeline, and the inner dialogue really made this relationship feel so organic, realistic, and believable. I adored their witty banter, their desire to listen and really get to know each other, and their willingness to believe in and follow their feelings. You could tell that Joe was more closely connected to this story than others he narrates and his pride and love for this story was a beautiful thing to experience. The brilliant trio of Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, and Maxine Mitchell in the form of best friends sending text messages was a genius way to give us insight into London’s inner thoughts, introduce us to fantastic side characters, and give us a female POV that gave the narration and story a pop that was absolute perfection. The interview questions that Joe answered at the end were incredibly fascinating and so entertaining. And don’t even get me started on the bloopers at the end! Joe sounded like he was having so much fun (and maybe too many Red Bulls) and Erin, Emma and Maxine were the three besties having a couple of glasses of wine and having a girls night out that we all wanted to be a part of. The only thing that could be better about this book is if it were a movie!! I am so happy for this whole group and only wish I could have made it last longer. Worth every credit and then some!!

I loved everything about it. Teddy and London story is such a cute love story with some steamy sexy time. It's not your usual hot carnal sex all the time kind of book but I loved the slow burn and the actual growing relationship between the main characters. joe as always gave an excellent performance but this time for me sounded more genuine like he was actually talking to one of his friends. Erin, Emma and Maxine were amazing and we need another book with these three ladies and the outtakes are hilarious. I'm sure I will be listening to this book many times.

Pure Gold
What do you get when you combine the wonderful talents of Lauren Blakely and Joe Arden?.. Pure gold, pure magic, a beautiful story. I absolutely love that this is told from the male's pov, but the way they set it up for us to get some insight into London as a person was brilliant. I love that Teddy is so real, none of the normal exaggerations you get in most romance books, just your normal good guy that you could totally fall for. And hearing Joe Arden also narrate the first book he helped write just puts this over the top for me. this is easily one of my all time favorite books. Teddy will definitely be your next book boyfriend.

Sooooo very good!
#BooksRead2021 First 5-Star listen of the year! I loved everything about this book. It was like the authors went into my brain and picked everything I adore about romance and put it on one book! The references to Jane Austen, the music, tv shows...it all resonated deeply with me. This for me was the perfect feelgood read/listen. No unnecessary drama or misunderstanding, just a lovely love story that was hot AF! The narration was sublime. I loved the ladies group texts chapters. Kudos Erin, Emma and Maxine! And of course Joe was fantastic as always. I hope there is more to come from this writing duo because this first book has definitely whetted my appetite for more ❤️

Cute, sexy and funny.
This is a sweet story, with a meet cute, lots of music (you had me at Duran Duran), Jane Austen quotes, lots of funny flirting, great chemistry, slightly voyeuristic dogs, and I really liked it despite having no angst. It's been co-written by Lauren Blakely and Joe Arden, who also narrates the book, and it's been written from a male pov. As always, Joe Arden is great with the narration, giving the male character that extra little bit that comes from having written the book himself. It's been interesting to read (or in this case listen) to a romance written by someone who has narrated so many romances. And special mention to Emma Wilder, Erin Mallon and Maxine Mitchell. The extra takes at the end of the book had me laughing really hard.

Cute and fun romcom
How to get Lucky by Lauren Blakely and debut author, Joe Arden is a fun and entertaining romcom. Told from the male point of view, which is a favourite of mine and not done enough in romance. I was both excited and nervous for this book. It had a lot of hype and that doesn’t always transfer well. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this story read. It felt very cohesive. Lauren and Joe clearly work well together. Teddy and London have an instant attraction and you can’t help but share in their delight at it. However, nothing ever runs smooth in romance, and we soon find out that their blossoming romance needs to be put on hold. Cue all the will they or won’t they moments. Which really built up the tension and made for an entertaining listen. I'll admit, the first half is what really captured my attention and heart, the second half seemed to fall a little flat. I think that's because I expected the book to have a little more emotion than it had. Seeing as that is what Joe excels at in his narration. It's more of a slow burn. The Star Wars and Jane Austen references were brilliant and just what I love. There are times when you can really see Joe’s writing shining through and that gives the story the uniqueness of the male pov. The female narrators were fantastic, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder & Maxine Mitchell. They have small cameos throughout the story, and I enjoyed hearing them. Their scenes we're probably the funniest. However, I didn’t feel that those scenes were necessary to the story. It doesn’t advance it and feels more like it’s them telling us what happened instead of showing us, which would have had more of an impact. The story would have been fine without it. Joe narrates the book with his usual skill. Each character is uniquely voiced and the transition from one character to another is smooth. Unfortunately, there is an accent used a couple of times that didn't work for me. I don't know whether it was intentional to sound that way or it’s just not an accent that he excels at. It pulled me out of the story and made me wonder why the character was written in with that accent. The production was great with no issues of note.

Ooh - The Good Guy Challenge - Sign Me Up
Forbidden romance at its best. Lauren Blakely is a firm favourite of mine, and as a fan of her audios I’m used to listening to Joe Arden’s scrumdidlyumptious voice. Now we get to hear his written word too. When Teddy ‘DJ Insomnia’ Lockhart and London Hollis first meet they have instant spark. It’s sweet, it’s sexy, and their banter is truly endearing. These guys are just too cute. They have so much in common, including the fact that they’re both dog people, the inclusion of rescue pit bull David Bowie and chihuahua mix Mr Darcy, I just love the names. Feel good romance, complete and utter bliss. Then comes the spanner in the works! London is the sister of Teddy’s boss, and she’ll be working at the club with Teddy. Double whammy! That’s the end if that then. Or is it? I love that neither of them had any willpower (the innuendos were so funny), and I love an angst free and oh so romantic romance novel, and How to Get Lucky is just that. Joe Arden writes like he narrates, with utter perfection. Wonderful epilogues, yes there’s more than one. The audio version has a fab Q&A at the end, and all credit to Joe for being so humble and thankful to Lauren Blakeley for the chance to co-write. I am so happy that she took that chance. I read the book AND listened to the audio, and Joe Arden really brings Teddy’s character to life with ‘that’ voice. Add in Maxine Mitchell, Erin Mallon and Emma Wilder. Audiobook heaven.

Congratulations Joe on your first book. It was a short funny story.
I really wanted to love it but had trouble connecting with the characters and their story. There was obviously many great ideas, but too many things crammed too short a story and I had trouble concentrating. I can normally finish a 12 hour audiobook in one day but this one took 3 days to finish about 6 hours. I found it wasn’t relaxing, with so much to keep track of in the story. I think the story needed to be longer with more character development of people not dogs. I love dogs (I have two of them) but they were (in my opinion) too much part of the story. Example; having to get home at a certain time for a dog and a dog licking you while kissing definitely killed the romance for me. The multiple female narrators was a new idea and I liked it. But I think the girlfriend conversations were a bit over the top and tacky and they shared too much with one another which cheapened the connection between the main characters. An epilogue is only great to listen to after developing a strong connection with the characters. Sam and emery deserved to have had their own story as opposed to a couple of minutes epilogue. If they weren’t going to have their own story probably don’t give an epilogue to them it was way too rushed. It takes away from Teddy and London’s story and some things are better left to the imagination of the listener/reader to wonder what happened. Finally, I listen to many audiobooks a year and I really hope this is taken as constructive criticism to Joe Arden (new writer). Writing good books is hard and takes time to develop the skill, so I hope you keep up the good work.

Great collaboration!
Loved the story, loved the dialogue, the female msg scenes were a nice way to add the female voice. Joe Arden did an even more amazing job narrating than usual. You could really feel how much he enjoyed doing it. The question time and out-takes where great fun too.

Loved it!
Teddy & London had sparks flying from the get go. I loved their off the hook chemistry, the banter and humour between them, as well as with their friends and can't forget their adorable personality filled pooches. The text messages between London, Olive and Emery were hilarious. Needless to say, the sexy times were steamy and hot af. The narrators were awesome and brought the book to life. Congrats to Joe on his first book. You and LB write well together. Oh, don't forget to listen to the outtakes, they are funny af.

enjoyable read with witty lovable characters
This for me has been my most anticipating listen of 2021. It did not disappoint!!! From when i listened to teddy (joe) in the prolouge on how he views his world. To the final epilogue I was immersed in Teddy's and Londons story. Laugh out loud moments, flirty dialogue, best pop culture references, swoon worthy moments and with incrediable story writing not to mention the bffs text exchanges omg funny AF. The ladies really knocked it out of the park with their narration. Also hats off to Joe Arden for not only writing his first book but narrating the hell out of Teddy I fully enjoyed his world and story. Hands down one I will enjoy listening to again thanks Lauren and Joe xx outtakes and Q &A are a must listen!! 😂😂
