Publisher's summary

Kara and her family have found their dream home: A two-story French country house on a wooded lot in idyllic Gracie Town - it's perfect. Or so they thought. They've hardly unpacked before the bizarre happens: Kara catches herself calling four-year-old Lilah by someone else's name. Pranks on the family begin, the playroom door won't stay shut, and turkey vultures keep circling, forever watching. When a statue is found on the property, Lilah is instantly attached to the creepy “dolly.” Soon after the discovery, Kara’s dreams turn nightmarish. She encounters issues she thought had been resolved long ago. Even nine-year-old Jack is affected by the new house - he sees something unsettling, but he's not telling anybody.

A True Storyteller

The author of this book is insanely descriptive, you can easily visual the picture she’s painting in each scene. I was drawn into the story and couldn’t wait to figure out what was happening to this family. I listened to the audiobook on my 90 minute commutes and the time flew by. Great read/listen!

Not a bad read

I enjoyed the book. Not going to be a reread though. Didn't care for ending, and some of the backstoies didn't make much sense. The ending was diappointng and open ended.

Almost Five Stars

The book started slow, but the author was very descriptive and made it easy to imagine the homes and town. There were quite a few things that were left unanswered, and the ending seemed rushed.
The performance of Connie Shabshab was good,

Slow Burn

Slow Burn that went nowhere. Plot had too many holes in it. I will be replacing.

Bad plot

Just not a good plot. Conclusion was not worth the wait. I had to go bad several times because I would lose interest and stop listening.

Not spooky, all about house repair

Trigger warning if you’ve ever lost a child.

Not every haunted house story has to have to a woman who lost her child and is in misery. Or a husband who works late and leaves her alone.
Premise is played out and dull.
There’s hardly anything scary or spooky that happens and I was SICK to DEATH of hearing about house repairs.
I cannot figure out people who called this spooky. It’s like baby’s first mystery. Nancy Drew is scarier than this.
