In Hope Is the Strategy, bestselling author and leader in the corporate wellbeing movement Jen Fisher shows how the future of work demands a fundamentally new approach to how we think about, structure, and support human flourishing in the workplace.

Drawing on Fisher's personal experience with burnout and the resulting insights, her conversations with thought leaders across different industries, and the research, frameworks, and methodologies she put into place as one of the world's first Chief Wellbeing Officers, this book delivers exclusive insights to understand what needs to change in how we work and demonstrates how we will all benefit from this new paradigm. Fisher reveals how hope―not as wishful thinking but as a practical skill―provides the foundation for sustainable performance, meaningful innovation, and authentic leadership. In this book, listeners will learn about:

  • Wellness programs that treat symptoms rather than causes
  • Leadership practices that prioritize short-term performance over long-term sustainability
  • Organizational systems that unintentionally create burnout while trying to prevent it

This audiobook includes a bonus afterword not included in the print edition.

Listening to Hope Is the Strategy as an audiobook was a truly grounding and inspiring experience. The book itself is thoughtful, timely, and deeply human, and hearing Jen share it in her own voice adds an extra layer of connection that makes the message feel even more personal and alive. Her warmth, clarity, and lived experience come through so naturally, making each chapter feel like a meaningful conversation rather than a lecture.

The bonus chapter is a beautiful addition and a powerful way to bring the book’s message full circle. It reinforces the idea that hope is not passive or naive, but an intentional and strategic practice we can return to again and again, especially in demanding seasons of life and work. Whether you’re reading the physical book, listening on audio, or both, Hope Is the Strategy is a reminder that sustainable success is built with humanity, courage, and care at the center.

Grounded, Human, and Deeply Needed - an Incredibly Impactful book!

I’ve been following Jen Fisher’s work for a while so I was excited to check this one out. She makes a case that Hope isn’t just some fluffy feel good thing, it’s actually a skill you can learn and use to be a better leader. She reads the audiobook herself, which I loved because it feels like she’s talking to you. If you’ve ever sat through one of those corporate wellness programs and thought “this is useless,” she gets into why those don’t work and what actually does. Honestly worth a listen.

A practical playbook for Hope at work
