Faith Neilson, survivor of an abusive marriage, has finally discovered her life's passion. She's established a shelter for women in crisis - not only for homeless women, but also for those who are suffering from abuse, dealing with addiction, or coping with grief over the loss of a loved one. Faith's mission, when she opens her doors, is to help the residents mend their broken hearts. In the midst of that challenge, she struggles to find additional funding to keep her program afloat while balancing the demands of career and home.

This stand-alone spin-off of the best-selling Sweeney Sisters series presents a cast of memorable characters: Tilda, who is convinced she has Alzheimer's; Molly, a street-smart homeless woman who has an endearing childlike quality; Caroline, whose gardening hobby has become an obsession since the death of her son; and Jenny, a young woman whose anger at her husband for having an affair with her best friend has spiraled out of control.

Join these women in their day-to-day lives as they endeavor to move from uncertainty toward independence. When the actions of a young resident's abusive stepfather threaten the residents' lives, as well as the future of the shelter, tension mounts and bonds of friendship are tested in a dramatic conclusion.

The narrator was a little stiff. Enunciation of words seemed to have an almost computerized quality.

A different narrator perhaps

I have been looking for a book with no violence or missing people and just generally relaxing to listen to. Well this was it😀. I couldn’t tear myself away from this one and thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters and the storyline. Thank you Ashley Farley!

I love this book so much! I really hope this author continues the series because i will read it in a heartbeat. I will be starting the Sweeny sisters series as soon as I can! I loved the characters and their stories as well as the imagery. my only wish is that she would have given more of tildas perspective, but even with that I think she did an amazing job with this book.

Ashley Farley knocked out our of the park with this installment of her Sweeney series. Each one has impractical she's developed hers characters and their world but this was raw and real dealing with the many aspects of why women need to heal. How women strike out and also bond together.
As a woman who's been dealing with abuse again in my life and trying to leave it, I put off this book because I feared the pain and tears it would bring. Instead of that, I was nodding my head and talking out loud to the book in agreement. What a relief and blessing. My heart is fuller for having read/listened to it.
Narration was excellent. Highly recommend this book.

Best book in series and in authenticity
